About the Institute:
Lovely Professional University is one of the India's Largest Universities determined by the sheer number of students studying on a single campus which is spread across 600 acres. LPU offers 150 plus Doctorate, Post Graduation, Graduation and Diploma level programs. Curriculum:
Curriculum of LPU is designed by a broad based panel of experts from relevant fields of learning � with members both from industry and academia. The University believes that the curriculum should be such that it should make the students "Industry Ready", and should invoke in them the sense to understand the learning with special focus on its applicability- which may lead to buttressing of R&D activities on their part. Hence, the curriculum of any program is developed with a specific focus on the benefits it could deliver to the students in terms of employability, application of knowledge and relevance to professional growth. Secondly, the culture of the campus acts as a catalyst.
Academic Resources:
The IT Infrastructure is capable of supporting 50000+ computer terminals. With more than 6000 plus workstations, 40 most powerful servers and 30 Km fiber backbone, the campus has round the clock internet/intranet facility with 24 Hours Power backup. The University also has dedicated iMac Lab for I Phone application development.
Breaking fresh ground, LPU was the first University in India to develop a comprehensive Hi-tech University Management System (UMS) � an Online Portal to cater to operational requirements of the University. Learning Management System (LMS), Relationship Management System (RMS), Electronic Bulletin Board and Online Attendance & Result System are some of the prominent features of UMS.
Placement Details:
LPU students are sought after by 300 plus global super brands like IBM, Infosys, HCL, Nokia, Siemens, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, TATA, Wipro, Bose Corporation and others. Recently, IT giant Cognizant Technology selected 945 students from LPU campus in 2013-14 sessions.
Projects:
At LPU, learning happens through real time experience and exposure. This year, LPU students of engineering exhibited next generation's 20 concept cars and automobile projects at huge platform like Auto Expo 2014. These exhibits were totally conceptualized, designed, developed and manufactured by students themselves. The display included world's first family solar car, world's smallest car, mobile operated driverless Car, multi-energy 'Smart Hybrid Car', Unique bikes, Hybrid Cryogen Engine, Hexa-Copter, all terrain vehicles amongst others. Developed as a part of the world-class application based curriculum at LPU, each project highlights the talent and the thrust given to creativity at the university.
Clubs, Cultural Activities and Sports:
The sports facilities of the University are characterized by 400-metre all-weather athletics track, Cricket Ground, Football Grounds, Hockey Fields, Handball Field, Tennis Court, Basket Ball, Courts, Baseball Court, Badminton Courts, Volleyball Courts, Kabaddi Courts, Kho-kho Court, Table tennis facility, Well-equipped Boxing arena, Fitness and strength conditioning centers , facilities for Aerobics & Dance, Gymnasiums and others. LPU also organizes a number of fests round the year.
Entrepreneurship:
The university has a dedicated department to further the culture of entrepreneurship amongst students and a separate R&D cell has also evolved recently. LPU is committed to technology deployment in its campus, and it is evident from the fact that nearly 90 percent of the tasks undertaken in the university incorporate one or the other tool of high end technology of present times.
