Every year, approximately one million students are coming out from a staggering number of 3400 engineering colleges in India, which is more than the combined total number of engineering graduates that the U.S. and China are producing yearly. In the 60 acres of lush green campus with ample facilities of ultra-modern learning, the management has set up seven research centers headed by prominent scientists. RMK Group of Educational Institutions
RMK Engineering College opened in 1995 with three departments. In a short span of time, the institute achieved a good reputation among students of Tamil Nadu as well as neighborhood states. The growing demand students pressurized the management to start one more institution with a promise of delivering the same quality. In 2001, the management started RMD Engineering College to fulfill the dreams many more engineering aspirants. While both colleges have been on the forefront to provide the students with practical, relevant and applied education, by implementing its successful educational approach in the campuses, the management added one more quality technical institution called RMK College of Engineering and Technology to this list in 2008. At present, the group has many educational institutes that include three engineering colleges, two schools and one polytechnic college.

In 2008, the college awarded the prestigious ISTE's Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan Award for an Engineering College having the Best Overall Performance followed by the "Best Principal Award" in the year 2012 from the same organization. Again, in 2012, they Ranked 12th among the Top 20 Best Engineering Colleges in India by the survey taken by AICTE - CII for the Best Industry - linked Engineering Colleges in India. The college is also winner of World Education Awards 2013, in the "Green Campus" category.
