By emphasizing on technological innovation, the institute has become created three world records in the Limca Books of Records. Nine people including students and Dr Rupesh P Vasani, Principal of the institute filed 101 patents with 303 claims in a single day was the first entry to the world record book. Then they challenged the world records again by conducting a marathon paper presentation with more than 700 entries in a single day and registered their second record. The third one was for making the largest Robo Race Track known as "Route 67" measuring 2.6 km in length, 0.61 meters in width.
With the committed leadership of the management and the efforts put up by the staff and students, the college came to lime light by securing the award on "Innovation" project in World Education Summit 2013 for the innovation on various projects done. The faculties and management of the institute insist students to come up with innovative projects so that they can apply for patents. Students and faculty of the institute have registered many patents in their name while many more are in the process of approving.
Academic Resources:
With comprehensive technical education, students at SAL will also get training on a set of life skills that would enable them to compete, excel and succeed in life. Communication techniques and personality development has been part of the curriculum from the inception of the institution. This program encompasses training and grooming the students in various disciplines such as written/verbal communication skills, presentation skills, time management, personality development, leadership, team spirit and so on. The Institute has also started conducting its courses through SCOPE (Society for Creation of Opportunity through Proficiency in English), which is a program initiated by Government of Gujarat to build English language proficiency in the youth of Gujarat and thereby to create employment opportunities to the younger population. Students coming from the vernacular medium are benefiting the most, as they will also get a provision for remedial teaching if it is necessary.
The Institute makes right use of pedagogical tools to train students to handle professional responsibilities. These include lectures by an appropriate mix of in-house and visiting faculty, expert lectures, discussions, seminars, project assignments and visits to industries and project sites. Continuous evaluation and counseling are also an important part of the institute's academic program.

The number of teachers are close to hundred and they are committed to the highest standards of teaching, mentoring and consulting. Dr. Rupesh Vasani - Principal
Dr. Rupesh Vasani, Principal of SAL Institute of Engineering and Technology is the recipient of five patents and his 100 more patent requests are waiting to be approved. The Civil Engineering scholar was the first candidate who applied for PhD from Gujarat Technological University in Civil Engineering. He is also serving as the Dean of Engineering at Gujarat Technological University with 19 engineering colleges functioning under his leadership.
