Sphoorthy Engineering College was established in 2004 by Shri. S. Chalama Reddy an eminent academician who is in the field of education for the past 30 years and is located 10km from Dilsukhnagar, Hyderabad. The college is located on the outskirts of the city and provides a soothing pollution free environment that is conducive for learning.

The institute has designed its curriculum for various programs in a way that students become disciplined without any interference and are able to excel in their studies with ample time for co-curricular activities. Owing to the discipline, students are able to organize all the cultural activities on their own without asking for assistance from the institution.
Approximately 60 percent of the students studying in this college are girls. The management is aware about this actuality and gives them special considerations, which includes exclusive bus services and counselling by the Sphoorthy Women's Chapter headed by Senior Women Faculty members. Moreover, the entire campus is monitored with CCTV cameras to provide better safety and security.
Academic Resources:
The college has built a library which houses more 30,000 volumes along with 3738 journals and e-journals. The digital libraries with 100 dedicated systems allow students to access various eBooks, journals and other articles available in the library. Even NTPL and various other video lectures are available to the students. The institute has also provided the students and faculty members discussion rooms to discuss on any academic matter.
In order to impart knowledge about the latest technologies and to make it an enjoyable and fun filled process, the institute has built several cutting edge labs. The activities conducted in these labs have helped students adapt to newer technologies at a faster pace. The institution has also built a full-fledged Research and Development Centre. While the institution has spared no expense in getting imported machines to help the students to understand their lessons faster, they have also provided several labs to guide the students practically.
Faculty:
Out of 163 faculty members, Sphoorthy Engineering College has 21 senior professors with Ph.D. Due to the time spent pursuing their doctoral degrees, the faculty members are able to have a better understanding of what theoretical and practical knowledge the students need to be taught. They are further able to ensure that the students possess all the required qualities that the companies are looking for when recruiting. Currently, there are 34 experienced faculty members pursuing their PhD studies.
Training:
The institute has also set up the Sphoorthy Finishing School which aims at imparting Technical Skills among the students to ensure that they are ready for the Placements. The institution has various MoU's and Tie-ups with various companies and institutions such as Career Conduit, Deloitte, CELT-OU, Globarena, NSIC, Ramakrishna Matt, HCL and others which provide training through Campus Connect Programs in Communication Skills, Aptitude Training and Soft Skills training classes. These students are able to attend these programs right from the first year. The College also offers free guidance for GRE/TOEFL/GATE etc., Entrepreneurship Development Programmes are also organised in association with JNTU, OU and NSIC.

Clubs, Cultural Activities and Sports:
The college encourages its students to enrol into all co-curricular and extracurricular activities which have been allotted to them. There are various clubs such as culture club, sports, singing, dancing and others. There are also a numerous departmental clubs. They also have an Entrepreneurship Cell which conducts a 3 day awareness program and also helps upcoming entrepreneurs in formulating their ideas and making it a reality. The college also provides separate gym facilities for boys and girls. In order to relieve stress and have fresh energy, the institute has hired yoga instructors for its faculty members and students.
Dr. V Chandra Mouli, Principal
Dr. V Chandra Mouli is the Principal at Sphoorthy Engineering College. After completing his PhD in 1978, he has worked with Osmania University for more than 35 years. He has guided 8 PhD students, out of which 2 have become scientists and six others are working at Osmania Universities and Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad.
