SRIT came into existence in 2002. The campus spreads over 49.99 acres of land. The salubrious climate and entrepreneurial culture creates an ambience that is most suitable for intellectual pursuit. Affiliated to Anna University, Chennai, the Institution offers undergraduate engineering programs and postgraduate programs in different specialization, which are duly approved by AICTE. The BE (EEE) and BE (ECE) Programs are accredited by NBA, New Delhi.

Research is a major component of SRIT. They have managed to tie-up with several organizations and institutions to nurture research abilities of students as well as faculties in the engineering sphere. The institute has tied-up with Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay for the research on Aakash Tablet. Coordinating with IIT- B, they conduct open source workshops and faculty development programs online.
To strengthen industry – institute relations, SRIT has undertaken several consultancy projects from various industries in both private and public sectors. Public Works Department of Tamil Nadu is one of the Governmental organizations that has maintained strong bondage with SRIT and coordinated with the Civil department of SRIT to successfully complete many projects in the nearby areas of the college.
Faculty
SRIT has rich faculty strength of more than 159 professors that includes 25 Ph.D holders. Along with that, the college has signed MoU with Kyunpook National University, South Korea. This allows the college to bring best international professors to the campus. The knowledge and experience of faculty members have helped the college immensely to undertake various consultancy projects. It also helps students in getting a practical view of the subjects that they are studying inside the classroom.
Placement Details:
At SRIT Industry-Institute Interaction is an ongoing process. The Placement Cell takes initiative in bringing in industry experts for interactive sessions with students. This will have great bearing on the Engineering Curriculum, exposure of industrial atmosphere to engineering students and subsequent placement of young graduating engineers in industries across the country.
They also have signed several MoUs with leading corporate houses, Research Centers and Institutes of Higher Education. Infosys, CISCO, Micromax, and Indian Institute of Remote Sensing are few to be named among them. This is an important strategy to expose students to real work life situation and to equip them with the necessary skills so that they would be job ready upon their graduation.

Academic Resources
The management of SRIT has provided all the amenities like Library, Labs, Ultra Modern Classrooms, Canteen and so on to ensure a high quality technical education to the students. The institute moved a step beyond by providing facilities to make new norms in the engineering education. They have setup a language Lab to master of the language skills, which helps students in facing any interview with confidence and in vastly improving their communication skills. Along with that, they have created Anna University EDUSAT facility for Video Conferencing and Central Computing Facility with 782 terminals and dedicated line for Internet connection.
Principal - Dr. R. Joseph Xavier
Dr. R. Joseph Xavier is a Ph.D holder from IIT – Madras. During his long career, he served in several institutes that include National Institute of Technology- Rourkela and National Institute of Technology –Surathkal. He also worked in Tamil Nadu Electricity Board. From 2005, he is serving as the principal of SRIT and the master man behind many initiatives of the institute.
