Over four lakh students move out of India to pursue higher education abroad every year. Countries such as the U.S., UK, Australia and New Zealand are some of the most popular destinations of higher education abroad for Indian students. With the ever increasing demand for well trained professionals, overseas education brings with it the advantage of access to better resources, faculty and training. However, to encompass both educational and corporate requirements for an international global environment in one course is unique in itself. One pioneering institute following such a model is Stallion Institute of International Studies which provides international education and enhances employability skills with a view to help students faces the challenges of a global work environment.
Stallion is a collaborative venture with Avonmore Tertiary Institute, a private tertiary institute provider in New Zealand. Avonmore institute has five campuses spanning New Zealand, and one among these five is the Christchurch Campus that accommodates students from Stallion. Stallion institute offers Diploma courses in Hospitality Management, Business Management, Tourism Management and Computer Networking with the curriculum designed by Avonmore Institute. In addition to course components, thorough IELTS training is provided by experienced faculty along with Functional English and a specially designed module called "Settlement Skills" which grooms students for their easy assimilation in New Zealand Industries. The programs commence in India and after completion in New Zealand, the students are awarded Diploma of Level-5 and Level-6 accredited by New Zealand Qualification Authority (NZQA)."Stallion, being located in Chandigarh, is a unique model that helps students in getting world class education," claims Ashok Sardana, Dean, Stallion Institute of International Studies.
In this model, a student is taught for the first six months at Stallion and the remaining duration is spent in Avonmore, studying the selected program. At the end of the study period, the student goes through a three month period of internship in the respective field of study. A 40 percent fee waiver is also offered on the 1st year’s tuition fee in order to save a part of the cost on students’ education. The engagement with various organizations during internship gives students an exposure to various employment opportunities. The institute assures the aspirants a vibrant campus life, cutting edge infrastructural facilities along with best student support services to help students enjoy this precious phase of their life. With an annual intake of 240 students in various courses that they opt for, the employment opportunities and field of performance differ in the same manner. Hospitality Management provides jobs in Food and Beverage, Housekeeping and Customer Service; Business Management offers jobs in areas of Marketing, Human Resources or Business Administration; Computer Networking offers job roles as Network Technician, Programmer, and Network Administrator or IT executive.
The institute looks forward to expanding international tie-ups with renowned institutes in New Zealand, Canada and France so that the students get a variety of programs in different countries.
