Himachal Pradesh plans B.Ed after Class 12 in future-focused revamp
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced on Thursday that the state government is considering the possibility of launching a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) course directly after Class 12.
At the Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony of St. Bede’s College, CM Sukhvinder Singh said the state government has introduced several modern courses including Artificial Intelligence and Data Storage to equip the youth with future-ready skills. He also announced a grant of Rs. 5 lakh for extraordinary students of the college and reaffirmed government’s commitment to women empowerment. He highlighted that Himachal Pradesh is the first Indian state to increase the legal marriage age for girls to 21 years.
Expressing concern over the growing drug menace, Sukhvinder Singh said the state government has initiated an anti-drug campaign and will take stronger measures to limit this issue. He also assured that his government is taking all possible measures to safeguard the youth from drug addiction while actively promoting sports in the state by increasing prize money for international competitions and increasing diet allowances for athletes.
Sukhvinder Singh also announced upgraded travel facilities for players, providing AC three-tier rail travel for distances up to 200 km and economy-class airfare for longer journeys.
