Kyung Hee Names Bulletin of Atomic Scientists Miwon Peace

The Kyung Hee University System named the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists as the recipient of the 2nd Miwon Peace Prize. Renowned for publishing the Doomsday Clock, the independent nonprofit was recognized for pioneering peace advocacy and addressing existential global risks through science.

Selection Committee Chair Irina Bokova noted that over eight decades, the Bulletin has visualized humanity's proximity to catastrophe while raising global awareness of nuclear threats, climate change, and disruptive technologies to guide policy toward peace.

Established in 2024 to honor founder Dr. Young Seek Choue's peace philosophy, the biennial prize provides a USD 200,000 grant for global peace initiatives. Founded in 1945 by Manhattan Project scientists, the Bulletin continues to bridge scientific insight and policy action. The official award ceremony will take place on September 21 during the UN International Day of Peace.
