DKTE Society’s Textile and Engineering Institute a unique institution accentuating on outcome based education. L ife becomes worthy when we live for others and an ardent social worker always views education as a provision for the fulfillment of societal needs. Education allows an individual in developing a positive outlook towards life. As an element of due respect to late Dattajirav Kadam, a great personality who lived his life for the betterment of society, Dattajirav Kadam Education Society established the Textile and Engineering Institute in 1982. This institute was permitted by the State Government to start a Diploma course in textiles from the academic year 1982 to 1983 and encouraged by the successful establishment it brought a revolution in the thinking and paradigm of the education in the state. Textile and Engineering Institute is a unique and prominent place catering to the needs of the society by conducting courses for entrepreneurship development. DKTE is one of the preferred Engineering Institute for most of the textile organizations for recruitment of textile post-graduate, under-graduate and diploma students. In India textile industry is characterized by the vast pool of skilled and unskilled workers, availability of labor at low costs and a strong base for production of raw materials. The textile industry is verticallyintegrated across the value chain and extends from fiber to fabric to garments. The textile sector has always been an important part of people’s lives in India and with the dedicated minds of DKTE the future for the Indian textile industry looks promising. The Institute believes in Industry based education system & ensures that the students are enriched with industrial knowledge.
The institute has come up with an -Dr. P.V. Kadole Principal HIGHER|67 | June 2016 Review Industry-Institute Partnership Cell (IIPC) sanctioned by the All Indian Council for Technical Education (AICTE) which acts as an interface between the industries and Institute to take up collaborative activities for mutual benefit. It strengthens the bond between industries and institute and works for arranging industrial training for students and identifies student project work in industries relevant to meet the industry needs. The cell interacts with R & D Organizations for conducting joint research work. It also arranges technical exhibitions, open houses, project competitions and personality development workshops. A short-term tailor made programme is also set for the benefit of professionals in various technical disciplines. The institution focuses on need based training programme in industries. Under this scheme, our institute received Rs.700.00 lakhs from Department of Industrial Promotion and Policy, Government of India for development of Research and Development Center at our Institute for catering to the needs of local textile industry. Institute has also established "Entrepreneurship Development Cell" (EDC) to act as an institutional mechanism for providing various services including information to budding S & T entrepreneurs.
DKTE creates entrepreneurial culture in the parent institution and other by promoting development of S & T based enterprises and employment opportunities. Inspiring students is integral to ensure the success and to encourage them to fulfill their potential. Faculty members of DKTE follow developments in the field to remain current in expertise and knowledge base. Inspiration can also take many forms, from helping a pupil through the academic year and their short-term goals, to guide them towards their future career. DKTE mentors focus on a broad set of goals for learners, such as students' mastery of content, their abilities to consider and critique, and particularly in professional fields and also the development of skill sets that enable students to undertake career positions. As a source of high potential, they employ a variety of teaching strategies based on the institution. As an outcome based education institution it provides students with research modules such as training, soft skills, good knowledge, highly qualified & industry experienced faculty and advanced machineries and Center of Excellence, BOSCH, and Robotics Lab are the research labs active in the institution. Change does not happen by itself, someone has to take the initiative. The DKTE education society through its initiation gave the spark for a tweak and its working for the young brains craving for creative erudition developing a simple and efficient style of life through system of education.
