Shri Shakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology aspires to inculcate in its youth, a strong character and democratic discipline, and a willingness to 'change with continuity'- a present that is built on the foundations of the past.
A nation is built in its educational Institutions. We have to train and build our youth in them. We have to impart to them the tradition of the future. This is precisely what I dreamed to create through Sri Shakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology,” says Dr. S. Thangavelu, Chairman at Shri Shakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology. This institute is located in Coimbatore and is affiliated to Anna University of Technology. Approved by the AICTE, this fledgling institute with only 10 years in existence has already been accredited by National Board of Accreditation and currently has 12 UG programs and nine PG programs Great efforts have been made in this institute to keep students constantly updated in the latest technologies. This is because in the field of engineering it is understood that practical knowledge of theoretical concepts is far more important and useful to students in the long run. With 10 Advanced Labs currently running, the college offers trainings in, Ruby on Rails, Cloud Computing and Mobile Applications Development among many others. The college is also one in only 47 colleges in India to have set-up LabVIEW Academy in the campus. Lab View Academy has trained 250 students and 20 faculty members from Electronics and communication and Electrical and Electronics branches. Students of this course even get placements while faculty get trained in these technologies as well. The college also ensures that research activities take place within the college. The recent focus on Research by the MHRD as a major criterion for ranking of colleges has not fazed the management of this institute. In fact, in expanding the field of research, the institute signed a MoU with Kyrgyz State Technical University to establish an Indo-Kyrgyz IT Research and Training Centre. The Departments of Physics and Chemistry have been recognized as Centres for Research by Anna University and thus the faculty provide guidance for research scholars. So while the institute follows the prescribed curriculum set, the management endeavours to add as many add on courses for students to keep them updated with latest technologies.
CHAIRMAN’S MESSAGE , Dr. S. Thangavelu C - A nation is built in its educational Institutions. We have to train and build our youth in them. We have to impart to them the tradition of the future. And this is precisely what I dreamed to create through Sri Shakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology.

Thus, while many institutes struggle to place their students, Sri Shakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology is able find employment for most of the eligible students in some of the biggest companies in the industry. This is also due to the efforts made by the management to forge connections with the industry. The college also provides training to the students to prepare them for the placement processes. Through numerous programs the placement cell provides training and guidance to students. The cell also actively seeks industry visits and training for all final and pre-final year students. Another objective of the cell is also to source out training programs that would be beneficial to the students. In this regard the institute has been quite dedicated and as such some of the major recruiters from the college include Mahindra, Infosys and Accenture. Students who have no interest in placements but wish to venture out into the field of entrepreneurship are also provided the resources they need to move ahead in the field.
With the Entrepreneurship Cell primed at inspiring students to enter into the field it organized a national level b-plan called IGNITE'15 to inspire the spirit entrepreneurship in all the students. The finalists of the IGNITE’15 have been connected to Nativelead Foundation which, jointly with Sri Shakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology has planned for an IMPACT ENGAGEMENT training for the students. The aim of the impact engagement program is to identity 60 students through a trispark workshop and to enable in them the skills of Entrepreneurship, Intrapreneurship and Innovation. The college also actively encourages extra-curricular activities and has placed particular focus on sports. With the Olympian BhaskaranSri Shakthi Hockey Academy open for students, the aim is to encourage the nurturing of young talents in the field of Hockey. The institute intends to start new programs such as food technology, biotechnology and bio-medical engineering among others. The institute is also opening its doors to foreign students for the 2016-2017academic year. In the future, the college aims at autonomy and gaining university status. With a management committed to its students anzd led by the Chairman Dr. S. Thangavelu, this college will fulfil its vision of being one of the nation's great engineering schools.
