The University of Engineering & Management (UEM), Kolkata has been established by the Act No 25 of 2014 of Govt. of West Bengal while the University of Engineering & Management (UEM), Jaipur was established in the year 2011 by Ordinance 11 of 2011 and Act No 5 of 2012 of Govt of Rajasthan. The UEM campus at Kolkata is a huge site, very strategically located at New Town near IT hub of the state just beside the IIT campus, very near to airport. The UEM campus at Jaipur has a 32 acre lush green area with beautiful ancient architecture building and is situated at “GURUKUL”, 6 kms from Chomu on Sikar Road, NH-11, Jaipur, Rajasthan. UEM promises an international ambience and exposure with innovative teaching techniques and courses which are tailor-made (technical & soft skills) for the job market. This is a pioneering achievement where an Eastern India based educational institution has established Universities starting from Eastern India to the most Western part of the country.

UEM has MOUs (Memorandum of Understandings) with foreign universities like Brunel University, London, ESC RENNES School of Business, Iwate Prefectural University, Japan and is known for organing conferences abroad where students can go and present their research papers in front of delegates from at least 71 countries (eg. in Columbia University, New York, USA, Brunel University, London and so on)

Currently due to Covid’19 pandemic all classes are being held online through Google Meet/GoToWebinar/ ZOOM/WebEx/YouTube Live with live lecture and desktop sharing. All classes of coming semesters (including new batch) will also be conducted in the same way. All the laboratories are being held online through Virtual Labs, Assignments are being shared and monitored through Google classroom, Examinations are being conducted online through IEMCRP-E-governance software, and even the Placements are being conducted online. The students of UEM have made the institute proud by bagging job offers at Capgemini, Capital Box, Lancers Counsel, Kryptonn with "Work from Home" opportunities and more during the lockdown.
