VVCE has grown in leaps and bounds under the guidance and leadership of Er. P. Vishwanath, the Secretary of VVS. He is the President of Mysore Industries Association and the Ex-Mayor of Mysore City Corporation. He is also the District Chief Commissioner of Bharath Scouts & Guides, and the Management Committee Member of Baden Powell Public School, Mysore.

Sri Gundappa Gowda

The Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering, a unit of Vidyavardhaka Sangha (VVS) established in the year 1997, has grown under the guidance and leadership of the President of Vidyavardhaka Sangha and staunch follower of Ramakrishna Ashrama and he is determined to take VVCE to greater heights.

Dressed in her best formal attire, a student of VVCE walks down the aisle to the lounge awaiting her turn of interview by the delegates of the Top firms of the country. It is the day of placements. The crucial day where every student would otherwise be nervous, this lady of VVCE has confidence rolled up her sleeve without a brink of stress or sweat.

She appears ready for the interview and puts her best foot forward as she walks, poised, into the room when her turn waits. Her upright conviction and sheer conduct of professionalism is the reverberation of the intensive outlook of the industry provided at VVCE.
It is to this day that Aparna Mallikarjuna, an alumnus of VVCE is placed as a Software Developer in the most reputed company HP. "We only strive to sustain a community of individuals who are dedicated to the achievement of excellence and who share a vision related to Engineering, Management and Science," says a proud Principal of VVCE, Dr. B. Sadashive Gowda.

Holding testimonies to his words are the exemplary efforts of the authorities deployed that support the vision and mission of the institution. Formed in 1997, VVCE was started as one amongst the ten prominent institutes by the "Vidyavardhaka Sangha". The dynamic experience of 18 years is perceptible in the efforts the institute executes to meet the ever-rising demands of the industry. Aparna is one amongst the many bright faces of VVCE who strives to prepare to confront the industry and adapts to all its rigorous changes.

MoUs beyond Mere Requirements

The MoUs of VVCE tell a tale of its excellent repute in offering industry insights of the present day through its Centers of Excellence. The institute is tied up with Intel and has an Intel Intelligent System Lab that provides extensive training on circuit management, inter-disciplinary projects and various other domains. A lab established in association with WIPRO called Mission 10X Technology Learning Centre deserves a special mention. Tie-up with Infosys, TCS, EMC2, SPI, Qwinix, National Entrepreneurship Network, and North Dakota State University, follow up in the vast list of VVCE’s dynamic MoUs. The collaboration with cadence Tools has made VVCE the only institute in Mysore to have its application tools to train electronics and communication engineering to the zeal driven students. "Our MoU with Infosys is highly prioritized as our faculty and students are sent on Industrial visits that help them gather their necessary insights with practical exposure," unveils Dr. Gowda.

Focused Methods for the Industry

Owing to its MoUs and its various methodologies in preparing market ready students, the authorities at Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering offer highly prioritized Industry visits, internships, Soft Skills and Aptitude training to its students. The institute is amongst the very rare that offers Computer Aided Three-dimensional Interactive Application (CATIA) training. Utilization of industrial and analytical tools for
mechanical, analysis software, and Autocad training are encouraged actively to make students aware and ready for the industry. Adding to the training are live projects from the industry. One such innovative project, the '3D Printer' developed by 4 students won awards and accolades at the National and State level. 'Monthly Distinguished Lecture' is a remarkably armed facet at the institute that invites Experts from the Industry who bestow their experiences and insights in the form of visiting lectures and widen the industrial horizon. "Through Continuous Assessment Meetings, we felicitate the top performing students in academia and projects," adds Dr. Gowda. The institute and its founding members have significantly invested on the infrastructure and amenities beyond the requirements of the AICTE norms that define the exemplary motivational methods at VVCE towards producing a new breed of engineering graduates. "The training and friendly nature of the faculty and industry experts enlightened us and made us aware of the industry expectations," adds Aparna; "It is due to their efforts that I have achieved the placement at HP today."

"We are growing by every passing minute," says Dr. Gowda as Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering had an initial start with four engineering branches with a student intake of 240 on roll. The renowned institution now has a remarkable intake of 540 at UG level and 192 at PG level. Currently the institution has a total of 2250 aspiring engineers stepping in for enlightenment pursuing various disciplines in technical education. Employed in its 23 acre campus is a vastly dynamic team of faculty who put their days and nights in for the refinement of skills and knowledge of their pupils. An epitome of brilliance, the total on-campus faculty of 141 has 17 PhD holders among them who are the strength of VVCE. Domains like Mechanical Engineering have over five doctorates and other branches have four doctorates as faculty. There is aspiration to increase the number of PhD holders at VVCE which the authorities are poised to achieve in the coming years by setting high standards of their excellence, repute and exemplary methods in research and meeting the demands of the industry of the current day and beyond. "We aspire to give to this world, more students like Aparna who are the need of the industry and also the country's growing graph," concludes a determined Dr. Gowda.
