Brazil Offers PG Scholarships to Foreign Students 2026

The Brazilian government's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the opening of applications for the PEC-PG (Programme of Student Exchange for Graduate Students) for the 2026 academic year.
The initiative provides scholarships for international students aiming to undertake postgraduate studies at accredited Brazilian Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).
Students may apply for full masters, full doctorate, or sandwich doctoral programs through the PEC-PG 2026 initiative. These programs will enable international researchers to study in Brazil universities and participate in advanced research in multiple fields.
The timetable for applications is as follows: the announcement of open positions will occur on September 30, 2025. The timeframe for application registration will be from October 1 to December 30, 2025, ending at 5:00 p.m. Brasília time (1:30 PM IST). The conclusive results will be revealed on April 30, 2026, and classes in Brazil are set to begin in August 2026.
Candidates must register and submit their applications via the CAPES online portal located at inscricao.capes.gov.br. Inquiries regarding the scholarship may be directed to the email address inscricao.pecpg@capes.gov.br.
The Government of India’s Ministry of Education has stated that it does not participate in the nomination or selection of candidates.
