IIT Bhilai, IMT Nord Europe Sign MoU for Joint UG-PG Degrees

The Indian Institute of Technology Bhilai (IIT Bhilai) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Institut Mines Telecom (IMT) Nord Europe to promote global academic and research collaborations between India and France. Prof. Rajiv Prakash, Director of IIT Bhilai, signed this agreement representing IIT Bhilai and the Office of International Affairs at IIT Bhilai.

The arrangement is formalized to promote collaborative efforts on issues of mutual interest between IMT Nord Europe and the Indian Institute of Technology, Bhilai. The parties have signed this agreement with a goal of establishing partnerships of cooperation that strengthen the objectives of the two institutions while allowing them to promote the economic, educational, social, and cultural development of the regions.

Under this agreement, students from IIT Bhilai, both undergraduate and postgraduate, will have the opportunity to study in France and receive joint degrees, while enhancing their international experience. The partnership will cover multiple disciplines such as Mechanical Engineering, Polymer and Composite Materials, Mechatronics, and Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence, per the press release.

At the same time, the Joint Seat Allocation Authority and Central Seat Allocation Board have been running the counselling for IIT admissions, National Institutes of Technology (NITs), and several other institutions. JoSAA is responsible for managing the counselling for IITs and the NIT+ system (NIT, IIIT, etc.), while CSAB is in charge of counselling only for the NIT+ system.

JoSAA will oversee the joint seat allocation for admission to 127 institutions for the academic year 2025-26. This consists of 23 IITs, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs, and 46 Other Government-Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs). The registration and choice selection for JoSAA round 1 counselling will start on June 3.

The process of seat allocation via JoSAA would consist of six standard rounds. Following this, the CSAB will carry out two dedicated rounds for filling vacant seats in the NIT+ system. The official portal for JoSAA counseling is josaa.nic.in. Candidates can find more information about the seat allocation procedure for the NIT+ System via special rounds by checking the CSAB-2025 portal at csab.nic.in.
