New Dual Engineering Degree Options Open for Indians

- Indian students can now earn dual engineering degrees through collaboration between MIT Manipal and Monash University.
- Programme offers global exposure, with initial studies in India and final two years in Australia.
- Degrees available in software and chemical engineering, combining practical skills, international curriculum, and project-based learning.
The new international academic collaboration will enable Indian engineering students to earn dual engineering degrees through a partnership between Monash University in Australia and the Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) which is part of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education.
The programme provides students with worldwide exposure while they develop their technical skills through studying both in India and Australia.
The dual-degree initiative will begin in August 2026 and will establish new pathways which allow Indian students to pursue academic and professional opportunities in foreign countries.
Under the programme structure, Bachelor of Technology students at MIT will complete their first academic year in India. Students who meet the academic requirements will transfer to Monash University in Australia to complete their final two years of study.
The program delivers two degrees to participants who complete it successfully, one degree from Manipal Institute of Technology and another degree from Monash University, which creates an international academic profile for them. The program plans to accept up to 60 students annually through this particular admission route.
The dual-degree programme will initially be offered in software engineering and chemical engineering, two fields with strong global demand.
The software engineering track will focus on subjects such as cloud computing and operating systems and software architecture and cybersecurity and AI-assisted software development.

The chemical engineering pathway will cover advanced topics which include industrial process design and reaction engineering and process control and particle technology and process optimization.
The two tracks will use project-based learning and practical work to teach students who want to succeed in current industrial environments.
The partnership agreement outlines detailed arrangements regarding credit transfers, curriculum alignment, and academic responsibilities between the two universities.
Students who transfer to Australia must also meet Monash University’s admission criteria and comply with Australian student visa regulations.
The institutions expect the program to enhance academic cooperation between India and Australia while providing students with opportunities to explore various educational systems and international engineering methodologies.
The initiative demonstrates a rising pattern which establishes international dual-degree programs as educational programs that help students develop their international competitiveness.
The program combines educational materials from two esteemed educational institutions to provide graduates with extended technical abilities and international work experience and better employment opportunities in worldwide engineering industries.
