Indian Navy Opens Agniveer Recruitment for 2027 Intake

The Indian Navy has started its recruitment process for the Agniveer 2027 program which includes multiple sailor positions and their recruitment of Senior Secondary Recruit (SSR) Matric Recruit (MR) and SSR (Medical) Sailor candidates.
The recruitment process operates under the government Agnipath scheme which aims to enlist young candidates into military service for short-term periods. The official Indian Navy recruitment portal will open for interested applicants to submit their applications from March 14 until April 6 in the year 2026.
The recruitment drive allows male and female candidates to apply for SSR and MR positions but restricts SSR (Medical) sailor position to unmarried male applicants.
Educational qualifications vary depending on the post. Candidates who want to apply for MR position need to show they passed Class 10 with 50 percent marks while SSR applicants need to show they completed Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics or they need to provide a three-year engineering diploma with equivalent marks.
To apply for SSR (Medical) role, applicants need to have completed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology while achieving at least 50 percent marks.

The selection process involves multiple stages to evaluate candidates' suitability for naval service. The selection process begins with applicants taking the Indian Navy Entrance Test (INET) 2026 which will be held in May 2026.
The candidates who pass this stage will move forward to the subsequent tests which include a Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and written examination and document verification and medical examination. The final selection will depend on performance in all stages of the recruitment process.
The application correction window will remain open on April 10 and April 11 because candidates can use this time to correct their application forms.
The entrance test results will be announced during the period between May and June 2026 according to the established schedule. The chosen applicants will receive training at INS Chilka which serves as one of the Indian Navy's main training facilities located in Odisha.
Altogether, the recruitment offers a good chance to young aspirants who aspire to serve in the Indian Navy, and encompasses valuable training and experience in military matters under the Agnipath program.
