  • Russia announces 300 fully funded scholarships for Indian students.
  • Programs span multiple disciplines with optional Russian language training.
  • Two-phase selection evaluates academics before university placement processing.

The Russian Federation Government has declared 300 scholarships for Indian students to study higher education in Russia for the 2026-27 academic year. The scholarships with full funding are available in various fields and academic tiers, providing Indian students a chance to pursue education at top Russian universities.

Indian students are eligible to apply for undergraduate, specialist, postgraduate, and doctoral programs, along with advanced training courses. The scholarship pays for tuition, enabling students to attend nearly all Russian universities without expenses, except for Lomonosov Moscow State University and MGIMO.

The qualifying areas of study include medicine, pharmacy, engineering, architecture, agriculture, management, economics, humanities, mathematics, space science, aviation, sports, and the arts. Certain programs, especially in medicine and engineering, are available in English.

Non-Russian-speaking applicants can choose to take a one-year language preparation course before starting their main program. Applications must be submitted solely via the official portal, education-in-russia.com. Submissions using any alternative methods will not be accepted.

The process of selection takes place in two phases. During the initial phase, applications will be evaluated according to academic achievements and accompanying materials such as research papers, letters of recommendation, or certificates from academic contests. Candidates who are shortlisted will go to the next phase, where the university placement and visa procedures will be managed by Russia's Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

The last date for the initial phase of applications is January 15, 2026. The Government of India's Ministry of Education has stated that it does not participate in the nomination or selection of candidates.
