UAE Prepares 150 Emirati Students for Overseas Studies

The UAE's Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research prepares 150 Emirati scholarship students for overseas education through an orientation programme focused on academic success, wellbeing, and national development.

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) in the UAE has arranged an elaborate orientation program for 150 UAE national students, who intend to join international universities under the National Scholarship Program. The orientation program, which is themed "From the UAE to the World … Determined and Ambitious," seeks to prepare the students with the necessary skills that will help them succeed in their international education while serving as ambassadors of the UAE.

The orientation forums will see the attendance of the students, their parents, senior government officers, higher education institutions’ representatives, strategic partners, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the UAE Fatwa Council. These forums will be about preparing the students to survive in foreign countries, and will involve lectures on what they should expect academically, administratively, in terms of services provided to them, culturally, and psychologically. The current students who receive scholarships give testimonies regarding their experience.

Speaking to the delegates, Dr Ahmed Sultan Al Shuaibi, the Undersecretary for the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, underscores that the scholarship scheme is considered to be among the major investments of the UAE in nurturing national talents. According to him, success does not only entail the attainment of university education but also involves choosing quality schools, studying relevant areas of study, and making contributions to the development of the country after coming back home.

As per the information released by the Ministry, there were 2,767 scholarship applications received by the government in 2026. So far, there have been 244 scholarships distributed within the year. Currently, there are 596 students from the United Arab Emirates who are receiving the scholarships for higher studies in 22 different countries. In 2026 it, 116 students have completed their courses. The scholars are pursuing their education in priority fields such as engineering, technology, medicine, life sciences, social sciences, and management.

The initiative can be bolstered by the signing of agreements between the ministry and 11 national organizations that have enabled the creation of 160 scholarships in strategically significant fields that conform to the needs of the future labor market of the country. The new scheme for scholarships will also offer continual support in the form of academic, administrative, and social assistance from admission up until the graduate is successfully reintegrated into the workforce of the country.
