Saudi Media Scholarship to Train Talents in Global Media, AI, VR

The Ministries of Education and Media in Saudi Arabia have signed a memorandum of cooperation to launch the “Media Scholarship” initiative, aimed at training and qualifying Saudi talents in leading global media companies and educational institutions. The initiative, part of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Scholarship Program, introduces the “Waed” track, focusing on media sector development through study-abroad opportunities tied to employment.
The majors of the programme are those areas in demand e.g. digital media, artificial intelligence in media, content production technologies, augmented and virtual reality, digital journalism, publishing, and platform management.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Education Minister Yousef Al-Benyan and Media Minister Salman Al-Dosari, with Undersecretary for Strategy and Vision Realization Majed Al-Thaqafi representing the Ministry of Media and Undersecretary for Scholarship Lina Al-Tuaimi representing the Ministry of Education.

Al-Thaqafi stated, “the program, offered in partnership with the private sector, will provide training opportunities in 15 countries, leading to diplomas, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees in media disciplines based on industry needs.”
The Ministry of Media will collect requirement forms from interested companies and submit them to the Ministry of Education for program approval and private sector agreements.
On Thursday, the General Commission for Audiovisual Media organized a workshop where more than 35 representatives of the private sector in the media, advertising, journalism, gaming and audiovisual production sectors discussed the needs of training and hiring.
