- Applications submitted via UK universities; CSC gives final approval.
The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK (CSC) has begun accepting applications for its Commonwealth Shared Scholarships program. This scholarship provides a chance for postgraduate students from developing countries to obtain Master’s degrees in the United Kingdom.
This project is a component of the UK government's dedication to global development and educational fairness throughout the Commonwealth.
The Shared Scholarships program is one of three Master's-level initiatives managed by the CSC, functioning under the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP). It aims to assist students from low-income and middle-income nations. Candidates for the Commonwealth Shared Scholarships need to be citizens of qualifying nations identified by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission.
To qualify for the Commonwealth Shared Scholarships, applicants need to be citizens of, or possess refugee status from, an eligible Commonwealth country and must have permanent residency there. They need to be prepared to start their academic courses in the UK by September 2025 and must possess a first degree with a minimum of upper second-class (2:1) honours, or a lower second-class degree accompanied by an appropriate postgraduate qualification like a Master’s degree.
Candidates should not have engaged in study or employment in a high-income nation for over one academic year and must provide proof of financial need, indicating that they would not be able to continue their education in the UK without this assistance.

All necessary paperwork must be provided in the specified format for the application to be deemed complete. The scholarship typically encompasses a one-year Master’s program, providing full tuition coverage, airfare, and a stipend for living expenses.
Applications are submitted via participating UK universities, which perform the initial candidate selection. The CSC provides final approval, confirming that the selected scholars meet the programme’s development-oriented goals.
Commonwealth Shared Scholarships are available for any recognized course provided by collaborating UK universities. These scholarships are meant exclusively for the completion of a particular degree, and financial support will not be provided for any additional qualifications or studies beyond the awarded level. Recipients are required to engage in full-time study and are not allowed to register for any additional academic programs simultaneously, states the official website.
