University of Sheffield Opens BSc Computer Science AI Sept ’26 Intake

The University of Sheffield, United Kingdom, has begun accepting applications for the BSc Computer Science AI program for the September 2026 intake. The three-year program provides an option to incorporate an extra placement year in the later stages of the course, along with opportunities for studying overseas.
To enroll in the BSc computer science AI program, candidates need a minimum of 85%-90% scores in Class 12 with mathematics and computer science. Applicants must possess an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6.5, with no component lower than 6.0, or a comparable accepted qualification.
The official statement from Sheffield University indicates that the tuition fees for the 2026 intake are still unconfirmed. Interested applicants may consult the annual tuition fee for international students for 2025–26 as a reference, set at £30,570.
"This core knowledge will prepare students to delve into the captivating world of AI, where they will explore areas like machine learning, natural language processing and robotics," the official Sheffield University statement said.
According to a statement released from Sheffield University, the BSc Computer Science AI program's first two years’ core module will provide foundational knowledge in computer science and allow customization of studies in the last year according to interests.

In addition to these specialized modules, students in their final year must concentrate on the dissertation project under the guidance of a lecturer.
The BSc Computer Science AI course is recognized by the British Computer Society (BCS) and it completely fulfills the criteria for Chartered Information Technology Professional (CITP) while partially satisfying the standards for Chartered Engineer (CEng).
“This course provides a core grounding in computer science with a focus on AI. Students will build the same solid foundation as the university's main computer science degree and explore a range of AI topics such as biologically inspired algorithms, machine learning, computer vision, and robotics. It equips students with essential technical skills in software engineering, programming, algorithms, and data structures,” the official Sheffield University statement adds.
