The program gives international students from developing countries who want to study development-related fields at top universities study funding to reach their educational goals.
The JJ/WBGSP is available only to candidates who have been unconditionally admitted (except for funding) to one of 44 approved master’s programmes across 24 universities in regions including the United States, Europe, Africa, Oceania, and Japan.
The programs concentrate their efforts on essential fields which include economic policy management, infrastructure management, tax policy, public finance, and development-related fields of study.
The scholarship application link is shared directly by participating universities with qualified students so prospective applicants should ensure they meet the admission requirement before applying to the scholarship scheme.

The application process has two different time periods which start on January 15 and end on February 27, 2026 while the second period starts on March 30 and ends on May 29 2026.
The World Bank member developing countries requirement states that applicants must hold citizenship from those countries while they need to possess a bachelor's degree which they should have obtained three years before the application deadline together with three years of recent full-time work experience in development-related fields.
The programme requires candidates to maintain development-related employment during their application period while they also need to fulfill required health standards and other program eligibility criteria which have been established.
The selection process evaluates each application using criteria such as professional experience, recommendations, commitment to home country development, and educational background, with final selections reviewed by the JJ/WBGSP Steering Committee.
