IIT Ropar Announces Scholarships, Lays Yogic Sciences Centre

• The scholarship initiative is expected to reduce dropout rates by providing sustained financial assistance to deserving students from underprivileged backgrounds.
• The Centre for Yogic Sciences will serve as a dedicated space for promoting preventive healthcare and mindfulness practices within the academic environment.
• Both initiatives align with national goals of inclusive education and the revival of traditional knowledge systems through scientific research and innovation.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar has laid the groundwork for two major components of inclusive education and holistic wellbeing with the establishment of its new scholarship programme for socio-economically challenged students, and the initiation of its Centre for Yogic Sciences on campus.
This programme provides academic support based on merit and academic achievement. The institute’s commitment to promoting social responsibility and providing equal access to educational resources strongly supports the purpose of this scholarship.

The objective of the scholarship programme is to create greater access and opportunities for students from under-represented and economically disadvantaged groups to participate in IIT education and prepare them for their professional careers.
Additionally, the launch of the Centre for Yogic Sciences at IIT Ropar signifies a progressive step in yoga education and practice. The centre will enable the integration of traditional Indian knowledge with modern scientific methods, offering a balanced approach that combines practical experience with academic rigor.
By equipping students, faculty, and the wider community with tools for improving physical health, mental wellness, and stress reduction, IIT Ropar aims to create a meaningful and lasting impact on overall well-being.
