IIMC Opens PhD Admissions for 2025-26 Academic Session

- IIMC has opened PhD admissions for 2025–26 for its new doctoral programme in Mass Communication and allied fields.

The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), deemed to be a university, the Minister of Information & Broadcasting has opened PhD admissions for the academic year 2025-26. This marks one of the early batches of its newly launched doctoral programme in mass communication and related disciplines.
This programme is offered in both full-time and part-time modes and has a design with advanced research in journalism, mass communication, and allied disciplines. PhD programme details a wide range of research domains such as digital media, advertising, public relations, strategic communication, political communication, film studies, and development communication.
This institute has a total of 22 seats, but 18 seats are permanent slots, and 4 are part-time slots for candidates. For the full-time candidates, they musthave a master’s degree in journalism with good communication skills, with at least 55 percent of marks. Candidates must be qualified for UGC NET in mass communication and journalism.

Selection process for full-time PhD: No entrance examination will be conducted. Valid UGC NET Scores will be directly shortlistedfor the interview. The final merit will be prepared based on a 70 percent weightage to UGC NET and 30 percent to the interview performance of the candidates.
The application fee charge is RS 2500 for General category candidates and RS 1500 for OBC/SC/ST/EWS/PwD. Once the fee is paid, there will be a non- refundable process, and payment must be made in online mode. Candidates are advised to regularly check the official website for any updates.
