”Scholarships and their requirements are more than mere formalities in higher education that represent a gateway of opportunity for deserving students. In an era when the cost of higher education continues to place financial pressure on families, scholarships can play a crucial role in enabling talented and motivated students to pursue their academic goals. They not only provide financial support but also recognize merit, encourage excellence, and promote greater equity in access to education. For many students, a scholarship can transform aspiration into achievement. It can ease the burden of tuition fees, books, accommodation, and other educational expenses, allowing students to concentrate on their studies, research, and professional development. At the same time, clearly defined and accessible eligibility requirements ensure that scholarship opportunities reach students who genuinely need and deserve them. Scholarships should therefore be viewed not simply as financial aid, but as an investment in human potential,” says Dr. Prasannajit Mishra, Professor and Head, Department of Agronomy, College of Agriculture, Odisha University of Agriculture & Technology.
“Every scholarship awarded is an opportunity created and every opportunity created strengthens the future of education and society,” says Dr. Ipsita Kar Assistant Professor, Department of Agronomy, College of Agriculture, Odisha University of Agriculture & Technology.

“Scholarships play a vital role in making higher education more accessible by reducing the financial barriers that can prevent deserving students from pursuing their academic and professional goals. For pharmacy students in particular, financial support can help them focus on developing the knowledge, practical skills, and professional competencies required for a successful career in healthcare.
Students should begin their scholarship search early and use reliable sources to identify opportunities that align with their course, academic performance, financial background, and career aspirations. Before applying, it is important to carefully review the eligibility criteria, application deadlines, required documents, selection process, and scholarship coverage.
Beyond financial assistance, scholarships can also motivate students to maintain strong academic performance and pursue their ambitions with greater confidence. Educational institutions and scholarship providers have an important role to play in creating greater awareness and ensuring that deserving students have access to these opportunities. With informed guidance and timely applications, scholarships can become an important pathway toward making quality higher education more inclusive and attainable,” says Dr. Manjunatha. P. Mudagal Principal & HOD, Department of Pharmacology, Acharya & BM Reddy College of Pharmacy

“Scholarships should be viewed not merely as financial aid, but as a strategic instrument for promoting equity, academic excellence, and social mobility in higher education. For many students, financial constraints can become a significant barrier to accessing quality education, irrespective of their academic potential. Well-designed scholarship programs help bridge this gap by enabling deserving students to pursue higher education, research, innovation, and professional development.
Students should adopt a proactive and informed approach when identifying scholarship opportunities. They should explore government portals, universities, reputed foundations, professional bodies, and institutional scholarship schemes, while carefully verifying the authenticity of every opportunity. Eligibility criteria, academic performance requirements, family income limits, application deadlines, required documentation, renewal conditions, and the extent of financial assistance should be reviewed before applying.
I would also encourage students not to limit themselves to a single scholarship. Identifying multiple opportunities aligned with their academic discipline, achievements, financial circumstances, and career aspirations can substantially improve their access to support. Ultimately, scholarships represent an investment in human potential, and ensuring that deserving students are aware of and able to access these opportunities is essential for building a more inclusive and knowledge-driven society,” says Dr. Shailendra S. Gurav, PhD, Professor, Department of Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry,
Goa College of Pharmacy.

"Scholarships play a transformative role in expanding access to higher education for students from farming families, economically weaker sections, and marginalized communities. They remove financial barriers and empower deserving students to pursue their academic aspirations, professional goals, and potential to serve society.
I am a proud beneficiary of the UGC-NFO Scholarship (April 2016) and a first-generation graduate from a farming family with limited economic resources. This scholarship provided crucial financial support, enabling me to pursue and successfully complete my Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics. More importantly, it strengthened my confidence, academic motivation, research capabilities, and professional outlook.
Today, I serve as an Assistant Professor at SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST). My journey is a powerful example of how timely scholarship support can transform lives, break socioeconomic barriers, and create opportunities for meaningful societal contribution. The education and opportunities enabled by the scholarship have empowered me to contribute through teaching, research, student mentoring, and knowledge dissemination.
Scholarships are therefore not merely financial assistance; they are powerful instruments of educational inclusion, social mobility, empowerment, and nation-building. Investing in disadvantaged students creates a lasting multiplier effect, enabling beneficiaries to become educators, researchers, professionals, and contributors who inspire and empower future generations,” says Dr. N. Periasami, Agri., Ph.D., Sr. Assistant Professor (Agricultural Economics), SRM College of Agricultural Sciences, SRM Institute of Science and Technology.
