NIFT Entrance Exam 2026 Registration Begins: Check Here

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has launched the application window for the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Entrance Examination 2026. The application period will end on January 6, 2026. Candidates who are interested and meet the eligibility criteria can submit their applications on the official website.

The admission entrance examination for UG, PG, NLEA (Lateral Entry), Artisans Category, and PhD programs for the 2026-27 academic year is scheduled for February 8, 2026. As per NTA, the examination will take place in 100 cities nationwide utilizing both Computer-Based Test (CBT) and Pen-and-Paper Test (PBT) formats, based on the component of the test.

Entries to UG programs, including Bachelor of Design (BDes) and Bachelor of Fashion Technology (BFTech), will rely on the GAT (General Ability Test) and/or CAT (Creative Ability Test) as outlined. Entry to PG programs, such as Master of Design (MDes), Master of Fashion Management (MFM), and Master of Fashion Technology (MFTech), will rely on GAT (General Ability Test) and/or CAT (Creative Ability Test) when relevant.

Candidates can apply for BDes (Lateral Entry) and BFTech (Lateral Entry) under NIFT Lateral Entry Admissions (NLEA) according to the eligibility criteria outlined in the Admissions Guidelines. Applications in the Artisans Category (for BDes) will be accepted according to the rules outlined by NIFT.

For admission to the PhD program, applicants must take a written test organized by NIFT, which will be succeeded by a Research Proposal Presentation and Interview (RPPI). Applicants belonging to the NRI/Foreign National/OCI/PIO/SAARC categories must follow the procedures specified in the NIFT Admissions Guidelines 2026. NIFT will process their admissions according to the established criteria.

Applicants need to meet all eligibility requirements, such as age restrictions, educational qualifications, subject combinations, and specific criteria for each category. Applicants are encouraged to thoroughly review the NIFT Admissions Guidelines 2026 and the NIFTEE 2026 Information Bulletin before submitting their applications.

The application needs to be submitted via the internet. Candidates need to submit a current photo, signature, live image, and other necessary documents in the specified format. Applicants with disabilities or pertaining to disabilities must submit a valid UDID card. The NIFT application fee is anticipated to be approximately Rs 2,000 for Open categories and Rs 500 for SC, ST, and PwD categories.
