Teachers’ Day 2026: Celebrating Mentors Who Inspire Dreams

All great learning starts with a willing teacher. There is a teacher who asks the right question, explains a hard concept, encourages the student at the appropriate time, and believes in the student even before they find a profession, have an ambition or have the confidence to pursue a dream. The long-term effect on society is why teaching is one of the most important professions in society.

Celebrated on the fifth of September in India, Teachers' Day is a day to acknowledge this great contribution and honor Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the philosopher, scholar, teacher and former President of India. But the meaning of the day is not just one of appreciation. It challenges us to consider education as a tool that can transform people, communities, economies and future.

A dramatic change in the teaching profession is taking place as well. The classroom is no longer the same place where educators prepare students for jobs that dictate their futures; Artificial Intelligence, Digital Learning, Immersive Technologies, Personalized Education and changing expectations of the workforce are changing the face of classrooms and the role of the educator. Tomorrow's teachers will have to be more than subject-matter experts - they will be mentors, facilitators and critical thinkers, technology-enabled educators, and lifelong learners.

Teaching is for students not just a career but a way to make a difference; it is a secure career trajectory. To become a teacher, students must make a commitment, prepare and be purposeful in their academic selection and preparation, as well as qualifying and gaining experience in the classroom. Teachers' Day this year is a day to celebrate teachers and, in the process, inspire the next generation to become teachers!

The role of a teacher in creative education is changing. For years, a large part of learning was about mastering tools, software and production techniques. Today, that is no longer enough.
