From imparting knowledge and life lessons to nurturing creativity and character, educators remain the backbone of personal growth and national progress.

This Teacher’s Day, let us honor their dedication, reflect on their impact, and celebrate the timeless bond between teachers and students.

Himanshu Rai, Director, IIM Indore

While home is the first school and parents are the first teachers, it is in the classroom that children truly encounter the wider world. Teachers welcome students from all walks of life- each carrying unique stories, strengths, and struggles and guide them towards knowledge, growth, and character. In doing so, teachers become more than educators; they become shapers of society itself.

A nation’s future rests on the values and wisdom imparted in its classrooms. On this Teachers' Day, I reflect not only on the honor of being called a teacher but also on the privilege of being a lifelong learner. I have always believed that learning flows in all directions between teacher and student, between experience and curiosity, between giving and receiving.

Whatever I am today is a reflection of the countless teachers who walked with me, challenged me, inspired me, and helped me grow. They taught me that education is not just about knowledge, but about courage, compassion, and character. Every lesson I share with my students carries the imprint of those who shaped me. Teaching is more than a profession, and it is a promise to nurture, to empower, and to believe in the potential of every child. And so, on this day, I bow to my teachers past and present, and to my students, who continue to teach me the beauty of growth, humility, and hope.

Teachers’ Day is a reminder of the lasting impact that mentors have in shaping who we become. In many ways, the workplace mirrors this dynamic.

While an organisation’s employee value proposition attracts talent, it is often leaders and managers who define the quality of an employee’s everyday experience.

Much like teachers, they have power to unlock potential, instil confidence, and nurture future leaders. I can trace my own journey to the good teachers I’ve had in many forms - from classrooms to boardrooms, who continue to influence and shape who I am today.

On this Teachers’ Day, let us remember that learning and mentoring are continuous processes, and inspired guidance at any stage can leave an indelible mark on lives and careers.

Gautam Duggal, Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Citi

Teachers are not merely educators; they mentor and guide values and wisdom that extend beyond the classroom. Their influence permeates all corners of society inspiring innovation compassion and resilience in a world consistently evolving.

Teachers remain the pillar of knowledge and understanding. They kindle the spark of curiosity, encouraging exploration, questioning and dreaming.

Neha Gupta, Head of HR for APAC at Material

As we celebrate Teachers' Day in India, I am reminded of the profound influence that teachers have in shaping not just individual lives, but entire societies.

For many of us, our earliest encounters with leadership, values, and resilience came not from boardrooms or global workplaces, but from the classrooms where teachers guided us with patience and purpose.

In India, where knowledge is deeply revered, teachers hold a unique place as mentors, role models, and nation-builders.

They inspire curiosity, instil discipline, and nurture the courage to ask questions, a foundation for innovation and progress. Their role extends far beyond academics; they shape character, fuel aspirations, and prepare generations to contribute meaningfully to society.

At a time when technology and AI are rapidly redefining work, the human touch of a teacher remains irreplaceable. Their ability to connect, to believe in potential before it is visible, and to build confidence where there is doubt, is what prepares individuals to thrive in uncertain times.

As Head of HR for APAC at Material, I see daily how the values of empathy, collaboration, and continuous learning first taught to us by teachers become the cornerstones of high-performing organizations. On this Teacher’s Day I bow to their invaluable contribution and recommit ourselves to creating environments of lifelong learning at work.

To all teachers within classrooms and beyond you remain the architects of possibility, and society owes you its deepest gratitude.

Atish Bhattacharya, Head- HR & Administration, Somany Ceramics

Teachers’ Day, celebrated on September 5, is a reminder of the immeasurable contributions teachers make to society. They are not just educators, but guides, mentors, and role models who shape the way individuals think, act, and aspire.

Their influence reaches far beyond classrooms, touching lives in ways that continue to resonate for years to come.

As William Arthur Ward once observed, “The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.”

I still remember those Teachers who have played pivotal in shaping my career or what I am today, starting from teachers of my school, college and even for that matter some of my Reporting Managers who went on to become my mentors for life guiding me whenever I am getting struck professionally or even taking right career decisions.

To me, role of a teacher/mentor is not confined to excellence in academics. They cultivate curiosity, foster resilience, and instil values that become the foundation of a person’s character. For me personally my Teachers & Mentors have helped me ignite my determination & confidence to pursue my dreams always, suggested me to be a lifelong student and keep learning something new every day.

This Teachers’ Day, let us celebrate the countless educators & mentors who devote their lives to nurturing minds and building character. Their lessons extend beyond books, reminding us that true mentorship is about inspiring individuals to dream, achieve, create a better tomorrow and most importantly becoming “Better Human Beings”.

Yogita Shanbhag, Head – HR, Juniper Networks

Teachers in our lives are torchbearers who shape our thoughts in more ways than we can imagine. Their selfless act to nurture individuals and skills comes with great responsibility.

Their contribution to build our ethical, moral and core value compass is a sublime but foundational act. Successful people and milestones at all times attribute their accomplishments to the teachings of teachers, gurus, coaches and mentors.

Teachers provide the nurturing and emotional support to help students to develop critical thinking and life skills, every nudge from their side is a huge effort to push students out of a comfort zone and think more broadly of impact an idea or decision can have on self, on the society, on the climate and on the planet. Their ability to be observant to what works best for each student is priceless.

Their teachings may take some time to resonate and absorb but as we reflect some of the most fundamental life and work decisions are based on the teachings we learnt from the safe hands and giving nature of a teacher.

“The dream begins with a teacher who believes in you, who tugs and pushes and leads you to the next plateau, sometimes poking you with a sharp stick called ‘truth” - Dan Rather

I take pride in celebrating ‘Teacher’s Day’, in being part of the mission in any way possible and express my gratitude and best wishes to all my teachers. Happy Teachers Day!

Hemang Desai, Chief Human Resources Officer, Ishan Technologies

Teachers are acknowledged as foundations, to any success in life, world-wide.  Teaching is an epitome of optimism. As Phil Colins said, “In learning you will teach, and in teaching you will learn”.

In the Corporate world, learning has been widely recognized as the most critical aspect of modern-day management and governance journey.

As we commemorate Teachers’ Day on 05th September, we celebrate, remember and cherish our teachers’ roles, at different stages of our lives.

Teachers, also in form of our parents, bosses, colleagues, elders, spouses, have imbibed and impacted our learnings and thereby our personalities. We owe our successes, our growth and our future to these self-less souls, who offered their time, efforts and part of themselves to make us what we are.

As Joyce Meyer said, “Teachers can change lives with just the right mix of chalk and challenges”.

As teachers, they always chalk out the right direction and overcome the challenges on the way. Teachers do more than just guide; they shape our lives, our future, our personalities. They pave the paths for us to choose our own strides and become our best versions.

I bow down in reverence to all my teachers, who have directly or indirectly impacted my thinking, behaviour and personality, which I proudly possess today. Happy Teachers’ Day!

Radhika Arora, Chief Human Resources Officer, Isgec Heavy Engineering

To all the students and future innovators, on this Teacher's Day, I want all of you to take a moment to acknowledge and celebrate the incredible educators who have helped shape who we are today.

Teachers are the architects of a better society, the unsung heroes who work tirelessly to inspire generations, guiding them to become not just skilled professionals, but thoughtful, ethical leaders, building the foundation for growth and evolution of mankind.

As a great mind once said, "The best teachers are those who show you where to look, but don't tell you what to see." This rings so true, especially in today’s context, when the world is evolving and innovating in almost every field, and young minds are solving complex issues in most unconventional ways.

It is our teachers who provided us with these tools to solve these complex challenges, ensuring we have the knowledge and the wisdom to apply it effectively. Our teachers are the ones who helped ignite this curiosity, passion, and critical thinking that has truly set us on our path.

Let us take a moment today to thank our teachers both the ones of the past and present, for their immense contribution. Their impact is immeasurable, and the lessons they impart will continue to resonate throughout our careers and lives. Happy Teachers' Day, keep learning always!

Balasubramanian Sethuraman, Head of Human Resources, Parekh Integrated Services

On this Teachers’ Day, I celebrate the powerful bond between teachers and students - a bond that does more than shaping careers; it shapes lives, dreams, and the very spirit of society.

I am reminded of the mentors who guided my own journey, not by giving me answers, but by teaching me how to question, explore, and believe in myself.

Their lessons of courage, resilience, and curiosity became the compass that continues to guide me through challenges and opportunities.

To our educators - You are the torchbearers of wisdom and compassion, lighting the path with patience, belief, and unwavering dedication. You don’t just teach - you inspire futures!

To our students - You are the promise of tomorrow, carrying forward the legacy of those who trust in your potential. You are proof that learning never stops and progress never sleeps.

Every lesson learned and every challenge overcome brings us closer to a brighter, kinder, and stronger world. Today, we honor the mentors who ignite the spark of learning and the learners who carry that spark into the future with gratitude, pride, and respect.

Learning is not just an acquisition of knowledge, but an application of it through continuous learning!
