BITS Pilani, USC Viterbi Launch Dual Degree & Research Programs
- BITS Pilani and USC Viterbi partner on research and education, focusing on AI, data science, and sustainability.
- Fast-track MS program offers early USC admission to eligible BITS students after three years.
- Exchange programs and joint research initiatives include student visits and faculty collaboration.
BITS Pilani and USC Viterbi School of Engineering have partnered to promote research, education, and global collaboration through an MoU, which was signed at Olin Hall of Engineering at USC on 5 June.
The partnership will specially focus on areas of artificial intelligence, data science, quantum computing, and sustainable engineering. This partnership also envisages joint research undertakings, exchange of faculty and students, and joint degree programs.
A flagship initiative under this partnership would be the fast-tracked Master of Science (MS): This scheme allows for admissions at USC for eligible engineering students of BITS Pilani after three years of undergraduate study so that they can begin taking graduate courses while completing their BE.

A two-week exchange program will allow USC students to visit BITS Pilani campuses to attend classes and participate in cultural immersion activities. Faculty would engage in research, teaching, and seminars together through reciprocal visits.
BITS Pilani admits students mostly via BITSAT. Few seats are allocated under a special category, viz, international and board toppers, for direct entry of distinguished performers. This collaboration will mark an important step toward strengthening academic and research ties between these two globally renowned institutions.
Prof Ramgopal Rao, Group Vice Chancellor, BITS Pilani said, "This partnership with USC Viterbi School of Engineering represents a significant step forward in our mission to provide global opportunities for our students and faculty. By combining the strengths of both institutions, we aim to foster innovation, enhance learning experiences, and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of education and research".
"This partnership with BITS Pilani exemplifies our commitment to building global alliances that advance research and innovation", added Yannis C Yortsos, Dean of USC Viterbi.
