CBSE Starts Class 12 Re-Evaluation with Lower Fees

Synopsis: Central Board of Secondary Education has begun the 2026 Class 12 result revaluation process, allowing students to apply online for verification, answer sheet photocopies, and re-evaluation of marks.

Central Board of Secondary Education has officially started the revaluation and verification process for Class 12 board examination results for 2026, allowing students to apply for answer sheet verification, photocopies of evaluated answer books, and re-evaluation of marks. The process began shortly after the declaration of CBSE Class 12 results earlier this month.

According to CBSE guidelines, students dissatisfied with their marks can first apply for verification of marks, during which the board checks for calculation errors, missed answers, or mistakes in mark entries. After verification, students are permitted to request scanned photocopies of their evaluated answer sheets before proceeding with re-evaluation of specific questions.

The board has introduced the application process through its official online portals, where students can submit requests within specified deadlines by paying the required subject-wise fees. Officials stated that the multi-stage system is designed to ensure transparency and provide students with a clearer understanding of the evaluation process.

Education experts noted that the revised re-evaluation framework introduced by CBSE in recent years gives students greater flexibility to identify possible discrepancies before requesting formal re-evaluation. The process has become increasingly digital, reducing delays and improving accessibility for students across India and abroad.

The CBSE Class 12 examinations remain one of India’s largest school-level assessments, with millions of students appearing annually across science, commerce, and humanities streams. Board examination scores play a crucial role in admissions to universities, professional courses, scholarships, and competitive entrance examinations.

Students and parents have been advised to carefully follow the official timelines and application procedures, as requests submitted after the deadline will not be considered. The board also clarified that marks may increase, decrease, or remain unchanged after re-evaluation.

Education analysts stated that digital evaluation systems and greater transparency measures are helping examination boards improve trust and accountability within India’s school assessment ecosystem.
