AIIMS Extends PhD July 2026 Registration Deadline
Synopsis: All India Institute of Medical Sciences New Delhi extends the PhD July 2026 registration deadline to May 16, giving candidates more time to apply for doctoral admissions across medical and research disciplines.
The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, has extended the online registration deadline for its PhD Programme July 2026 session, giving aspirants additional time to complete the admission process. Candidates can now submit their applications until May 16, 2026, through the official AIIMS examination portal.
Along with the extension, AIIMS has also revised the admission schedule for the upcoming session, including updates related to the entrance examination, admit card release, result declaration, departmental assessment, and final admission process. The institute stated that the extension was introduced to accommodate applicants facing technical or documentation-related delays during registration.
The PhD programme is open to candidates from medical, nursing, and non-medical backgrounds who meet the prescribed academic qualifications and fellowship requirements. Eligible applicants include candidates holding MBBS, BDS, MD, MS, MDS, DM, MCh, DNB, nursing, and postgraduate degrees in relevant disciplines. AIIMS has clarified that admissions will continue through a two-stage selection process involving a computer-based entrance examination followed by an interview and departmental assessment.

The entrance examination for the July 2026 session is expected to evaluate candidates on research aptitude, biostatistics, research methodology, English comprehension, and subject-specific knowledge. According to the revised schedule, admit cards and examination details will be released through the official AIIMS examinations website before the test date.
AIIMS New Delhi remains one of India’s most prestigious medical research institutions, attracting candidates from across the country for doctoral programmes in biomedical sciences, clinical research, public health, and allied disciplines. Experts believe the extension may help increase participation, particularly among working professionals and research scholars preparing documentation for fellowship and sponsorship requirements.
The institute has advised applicants to carefully review eligibility criteria, upload all required documents correctly, and complete fee payment before the revised deadline to avoid last-minute technical issues.
