IIT Delhi and AcSIR Sign MoU to Boost Research Collaboration

IIT Delhi and AcSIR sign an MoU to expand joint research, postgraduate student supervision, faculty collaboration and academic exchange, providing researchers access to wider expertise and facilities.
The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) and the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR) sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen academic and research collaboration between the two institutions. The agreement establishes a framework for joint research, student and faculty exchange, and greater access to academic and research facilities.
The partnership brings together the academic and research capabilities of IIT Delhi and the extensive network of research institutions associated with AcSIR. These include laboratories and institutions affiliated with the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

A key component of the MoU is the development of joint research initiatives in areas of mutual interest. The agreement also enables co-supervision of postgraduate research students, providing opportunities for students to work under faculty members from both institutions.
Under the arrangement, students pursuing PhD, M.Tech and MS by Research programmes can have one supervisor from IIT Delhi and another from an AcSIR-affiliated research institute. This model is intended to provide students with access to diverse research expertise, facilities and specialised infrastructure.
The collaboration also facilitates academic and research visits involving postgraduate students, research scholars and faculty members. Students from the participating institutions can undertake coursework and research activities at the partner institution without requiring separate admission or paying tuition fees to the host institution, subject to the terms of the agreement.
Faculty members from IIT Delhi and researchers associated with AcSIR-affiliated institutions can collaborate on research projects covering areas of mutual interest. The arrangement is designed to encourage interaction between researchers and enable them to utilise complementary expertise and facilities.

The partnership also creates opportunities for students and researchers to work on projects with potential industrial relevance and societal applications. By connecting IIT Delhi with AcSIR's wider research network, the collaboration seeks to expand access to research infrastructure and support cross-institutional academic engagement.
The MoU represents an effort to establish sustained academic links between IIT Delhi and AcSIR while creating additional opportunities for postgraduate research, faculty collaboration, academic mobility and interdisciplinary research.
