IIT Guwahati Extends GATE 2026 Registration Deadline Update

The organizing institute for the GATE exam 2026, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, has pushed back the GATE registration deadline for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 to September 28, 2025, with no late fee.

Interested candidates may submit their GATE application via the official GATE website at goaps.iitg.ac.in. For individuals who overlook the standard deadline, the final date for GATE 2026 registration with a late fee is October 9, 2025.

The GATE 2026 test is planned for February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026, encompassing 30 subject areas. The test will take place in two sessions each day:

This year, the fee structure at IIT Guwahati has been updated. The regular registration fee has increased from ₹1,800 to ₹2,000. The fee for female candidates and for those in the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories has increased from ₹800 to ₹1,000.

In a significant change, IIT Guwahati has launched a new sectional paper named Energy Science within the Engineering Sciences (XE) category. This seeks to offer increased flexibility and options for candidates exploring interdisciplinary or new fields in science and technology.

Moreover, the institute has released the two-paper combination list for GATE 2026, allowing candidates to select a second subject paper according to their educational interests and professional aspirations.
