IIT Madras Zanzibar opens UG, PG admissions for 2026

The IIT Madras Zanzibar campus has officially opened admissions for its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes for the 2026 academic session, marking another step in expanding India’s global education footprint.

The institute operates its first international campus in Tanzania which enables students from different countries to study its courses that maintain the same academic standards as its Chennai main campus.

The application process is currently open for Bachelor of Science (BS) and MTech programmes which focus on emerging fields such as Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.

The admission process consists of a formal selection system which uses both testing and interviewing methods to evaluate candidates.

The MTech screening test is scheduled for April 26, 2026, while the BS programme test will take place on June 6, 2026, at centres in India and abroad. The last dates for application submission are April 15 for postgraduate courses and April 30 for undergraduate programmes.

Candidates must submit their applications through the online system while fulfilling eligibility requirements which depend on their academic records and specific subject needs.

The Zanzibar campus will develop PhD programs and research facilities through its upcoming academic program expansion.

The organization will establish two new facilities which include a Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and a translational research office to support East African startups and technology development.

The campus establishes itself as a worldwide educational center which connects Indian technical strengths with international learning opportunities.

The initiative not only enhances opportunities for students worldwide but also supports the development of advanced skills and innovation ecosystems in the region.
