IIT Mandi and IIT Jammu Open Joint PhD Admissions for 2026–27

IIT Mandi and IIT Jammu invite applications for their joint PhD programme for the January–May 2027 cycle. Online applications open October 11 and close October 30, 2026, with interdisciplinary research projects under joint supervision.

Joint PhD degree programme at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi & IIT Jammu seeks applications for the 2026-2027 admission session. This programme offers students chances of pursuing PhD studies through collaborations in teaching and research between the two institutes.

The online application process will start on 11th October 2026, and the deadline to apply is 30th October 2026 at 5 PM. This programme has listed research projects for the admission session of January to May 2027.

The Joint Degree Programme (JDP) is aimed at combining the research experience, academic resources and facilities of both the IITs. The selected researchers will be able to interact with supervisors of both the institutes thereby creating a platform for cross-disciplinary research along with access to research facilities of IIT Mandi & IIT Jammu.

The listed projects span across various fields such as engineering, materials science, electronics and social sciences. Some examples of research themes under the advertised projects are financial inclusion and rural development in agriculture, radiation hard in-memory computing for edge devices, and computational approach to fracture in advanced functional materials.

Research on hardware for wideband spectrum sensing and sustainable spectrum usage is also included under this programme. Every project listed under the program mentions home institution, host institution, supervisor and department/school/centre for that project.
