US is looked upon as the country providing world's best education. Students from all over the world are trying extremely hard for getting into world's best universities. In olden days, a large portion of migrant students crossed seas, opting for research work. However today, large section of graduate students in different fields are migrants, due to better living condition, facilities, exposure and high salary job waiting for hem after passing out from schools in US. A major portion of International graduate students in US, i.e about 73 percent, is predominantly from Asia, mostly from China and India. But in last few years flow of Indian students to US witnessed a small marginal decline and hat from China witnessed five percent increase. The concerns about OPT and future work visas are regarded as a major factor for this decline. The international student number in the US has increased in the past couple of years with more and more students availing themselves for a work-study opportunity.

Majority of the international students in US are opting for STEM subjects and MBA programmes. US is also favourite destination for higher education and post graduation. The US offers a very diverse range of higher education options compared to any other country in the world. According to the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), 2,32,851 Indian students went to the USA for higher studies in 2021. The number of Indian students in the US increased by more than 12 percent in 2021 and out of this about 37 percent of Indian students were females.
