Today all the engineering colleges promise the employability skills but many fail in it due to inappropriate implementation of the right measures. Even in this juncture of time, Malla Reddy Engineering College-Autonomous, Hyderabad witnesses an intemperate increase in the number of recruiters.

The college started its work towards creating employability with a slogan, ‘to place all the praise worthy students before completing their course and make them globally competitive’. The well established placement cell assists students from various disciplines in finding job opportunities. Apart from regular curriculum, the students are thoroughly exposed to the latest global market trends through extension lectures by eminent professional Dr. S. Sudhakara Reddy, Principal A person with rich teaching and industrial experience for over three
decades and as an administrator, he has been instrumental in acquiring accreditation status for most of the institutions that he has worked with. He obtained his B.Tech Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Production) from Kakatiya University, Warangal, M.tech Degree in Design and Production Engineering (Machine Tools) from N I T, Warangal and M.B.A (Human Resource Management) from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University, Hyderabad. He has authored three text books and published 20 technical papers in national, international conferences and journals. He is a life member of various professional bodies.

The placement cell gauges the demand and supply requirements of the industry and equips the students accordingly from time to time to match the needs of the corporate world. The college is not just indulged in the conventional mode of teaching; instead it also motivates students towards creative thinking which makes the recruiters opt for MREC students more than the other institutes. The placements for the academic year 2014 – 2015 have yielded 400 offers for 600 registered students. More than 53 companies conducted campus recruitment drive and interacted with the students of
B.Tech, M.tech, MBA and MCA across eight departments. “We were approached by reputed core companies like Tech Mahindra, IBM, HCL, NTT DATA, Virtusa, Mphasis, iGate, Cyient, Vijay Electrical, ADP, MRF, Polaris, Act Group and so on. The highest salary offered this year is 6 LPA and the average salary is 3.25 LPA,” says Dr Sudhakar Reddy, Principal, MREC. Along with the inculcation of the employability skill, the college also motivates students to be good entrepreneurs with the effective work of the EDC. “The college encourages students to come up with their business plans and they are mentored by the real time entrepreneurs and further the cell plans networking with some of the best funding agencies and venture capitalists in realizing their dreams,” adds Dr. Reddy.

The journey of MREC started in the year 2002 under the chairmanship of Sri Ch. Malla Reddy to provide high quality technical education especially making it accessible for the rural engineering aspirants. Now, the college offers UG courses in CE, ECE, ME, EEE, CSE and mining Engineering along with 12 pg courses. With the involvement of right industry academic skill training, the college is all into creating competent professionals with a slogan ‘For the right candidate with the right attitude, the sky is the limit’.
