Vocational training has played a major role in bridging the gap between academia and the industry. While conventional colleges are aimed at providing theoretical education, vocational colleges emphasize on offering job oriented courses that are practical intensive. At a time when the majority of graduates are not industry-ready, learning by doing approach adopted by vocational institutes has been crucial in reducing the unemployment rate in the country. Vocational training received on certain fields like fitting, plumbing, automobile, vehicle technology, construction, engineering and management makes the individuals industry-ready. One such institute that has been committed to the cause of equipping the students with the skills needed to thrive and become successful in the new world is Rustomjee Academy for Global Careers (RAGC). All three campuses of RAGC that are situated in Thane and Dahanu in Mumbai and RPVETC in Bangalore are focused on their mission to train over five lakh students by the end of 2024.

Committed to Making Difference
The primary motive behind the establishment of RAGC is to pioneer the Indian vocational education realm and bring in innovative policies and programs that can have a positive impact on the lives of their students. "We provide hands-on training for our students and our teaching methodologies and curriculum are practical-oriented. All our courses are designed and developed by industry experts and this gives our programs an added charm of perfectly aligning with the industry requirements. We adopt unique teaching techniques in our institutes and we conduct regular field and
industry visits so that our students can get first-hand experience of the happenings in the industry. By teaching our students the practical aspects of the topic first, they are easily able to understand the concept and theoretical part of the topic. This one-off approach has helped our students to become industry ready at the end of their courses", says Karan Desai, Center Head of Thane Campus, RAGC. To cater to the wider demands of the industry, RAGC offers degree and diploma courses in Automobile Engineering, Civil and Construction Engineering, Hotel Management, and Business Management. There is also a diploma course in electrical and electronic engineering. RAGC is also working to acquire B.Voc certification and it will be available by 2021. This arsenal of specialized courses allows RAGC to achieve a visionary status in the Indian vocational education domain.

The institute has a couple of noteworthy collaborations with international universities such as the University of Wolverhampton, UK and the students have the opportunity to learn under the professors from the University at the end of their course. This also increases the employability of the students in the global market. Studying in RAGC also offers the students the opportunity to get industry experience and internship possibilities in top tier companies like Audi, Mercedes, Maruti, TATA and Godrej. Students having difficulties to fulfill the financial needs for education can avail a plethora of scholarships offered by RAGC. Right now the institute is giving ITRC scholarship to the students and sponsoring the entire course fees depending on the needs of the students.

Creating a Unique Learning Platform for Quality Learning
All three campuses of RAGC are fully equipped with state of the
art technologies, tools and equipments. There are dedicated labs that are fully equipped with cutting edge technology and this gives the students the perfect opportunity to hone their skills. Combining this with the support and mentoring offered by faculty who are experts in their respective fields, the students of RAGC are perfectly poised to succeed in their future.

The faculty of the institute also uses modern teaching methods like Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality presentations so that the students can clearly understand each and every topic. Expert dignitaries from the industry also come to interact with the students and these interactions help them understand the changing industry trends and how to prepare themselves to get employed. RAGC has got strong industry tie-ups with Tier-1 companies like TATA, Maruti, and Mercedes and these industry collaborations are crucial for educational institutions in the coming years to keep abreast with the ever-changing market scenarios.

Adding about the future plans of the institute Karan says, "Apart from the programs that we're running right now, we are looking forward to going with the market trends and are looking to start with the data science program. We are also looking to add nursing programs into our course list and expand into the healthcare education sector. This will allow us to offer capable skilled employees to almost all the industry verticals and thereby playing our part in the development of the country."
