In the wake of growing skill gap among the fresh graduates in the country, the need of the hour is institutions that can impart quality education and produce competent workforce with a global perspective. Foreseeing this need, Sri Vasavi Educational Society laid the foundation of Sri Vasavi Engineering College (SVEC) in the year 2001. "Consisting of a group of iconic personalities, the society is resolute to serve the community. Given this, through SVEC, we are striving tirelessly to open matchless opportunities for the next-generation," says Chalamcharla V. V. Subba Rao, Secretary, and Correspondent, SVEC. As the institute believes in fostering a research atmosphere among the faculty members and the students, the Research Cell encompassed in the campus from time to time keep a check on undertaking cutting-edge research activities and consultancy works. "The NIT Andhra Pradesh is situated in our campus and this greatly facilitates us in a variety of verticals such as conducting research awareness programmes and getting the opportunity to welcome expert faculty members from esteemed Universities," shares Rao.

A NAAC accredited institute, SVEC runs 5 engineering departments viz. Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, and Electronics & Communication Engineering. "Three of our engineering department i.e. CSE, MEC, and EEE is duly accredited by NBA," pinpoints Rao. Earned the autonomous status recently, the institute is permanently affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada and follows the recommended University curriculum coupled with starting training the students from second year onwards by designing

special programme. This effort lets the students evolve as industry-ready and perform exceptionally well at their workplace from day one.

Hand-in-hand, the institute takes good care in encouraging the faculty members to attend IUCEE ­APSSDC sponsored FDP Courses on latest Technologies coupled with sponsoring the NPTEL Course fee for the faculty members to enrich their domain knowledge. Praising the institute's dedication towards providing an apt engineering education, Venkataphanindra Reddy Guvvala, an alumnus from the 2013-17 batches says, "Vasavi is the best engineering college in West Godavari district. It has helped me attain a noticeable positive attitude towards my studies. I also would like to mention the state-of-the-art library and infrastructure which was one of the best in the state of Andhra Pradesh."

Strategically located at Pedatadepalli, an amicable and pollution- free location, 5 km away from the main town Tadepalligudem, West Godavari District, SVEC's campus has been adorned with modern laboratories like Internet of things laboratory and E-yantra (robotics laboratory), hostels, well-stocked library, transportation facilitates, Skill Excellence Centre, ISAC ASIMOV Project House and so on. "Being a learner-centric institute, we have taken into account all such elements which will make our students' journey at SVEC blissful. With academics, students are also given entire freedom to take part in co-curricular activities and realize their individual interests," claims Rao. For rendering the bright students that extra boost, the institute annually offers substantial scholarships on merit basis. And on the other hand, aiming the all round development of the students, the exclusive training and placement cell in the campus organizes classes for communication skills, aptitude training, life skills, employability skills, technical skills, mock group discussions, mock Interviews and many more.

Rao claims, "The team sprawls these activities from second year B.Tech to Final year B.Tech. Throughout the year, this way our students get trained and by the time they reach their final year, they are all ready to compete confidently

with their counterparts from other institutes. "Apart from the in-house training, the cell also arranges a number of external training programmes in association with organizations such as TIME, TALENTIO, IT Curve, to name a few. In order to ensure that the students are been trained in a right way the cell routinely takes feedbacks from the companies that have visited the campus and understand what are the most demandable skills and accordingly include those in the training sessions. Rao adds, "Although, in a nascent stage, the entrepreneurship cell of the institute is growing by leaps and bounds, where as of now numerous students have registered and has expressed their interest for the same. Recently the cell has conducted an MSME Sponsored Awareness Program on Entrepreneurship."

Priding on possessing a significant stature in the education space, the institute over the years has signed MoUs with organizations like IIT Madras, Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation, Bennett University, Noida, TCS-ion, Alykas Innovations Pvt. Ltd., and the list hardly gets an end. While in the last academic year 24 reputed companies visited the campus for placement purpose, for the 2018-19 sessions, the placement drive has already been initiated, where till date around 150 students got placed in distinguished companies with handsome salary packages. "Targeting to turn a little better every day, we have set a short-term goal to undertake National funding research projects, indulging both the faculty members and students coupled with achieving cent percent placement rate. And in long-term or to say in the next 5 years, we aspire to emerge into a Deemed-to-be-University for which we are standing tenaciously to adopt the best educational practice in our teaching-learning process," concludes Rao.
