Anna University Unveils Scholarship to Attract Top Talent

- Anna University plans new scholarship scheme to attract talented students into postgraduate engineering and architecture programs.
- Selected students will receive ₹60,000 per semester based on CEETA-PG entrance examination ranking and academic merit.
- Initiative aims to improve postgraduate admissions, strengthen research culture, and attract high-quality students nationwide.
The University of Anna has established a scholarship program which targets exceptional students for its postgraduate programs. The scheme will be introduced from the 2026–27 academic year and is designed to encourage talented graduates to pursue advanced studies at the university.
The university officials anticipate that financial incentives will boost postgraduate enrollment while they strengthen the institution's academic and research capabilities.
The new plan will provide financial support worth ₹60,000 per semester to 400 postgraduate students who will study for two years. The scholarship will be available to students enrolled in programmes such as ME, MTech, MArch, and MPlan.
The selection process for the scholarship will use the ranks from the CEETA-PG entrance examination which serves as the admission test for postgraduate engineering and architecture programs in the state.
The financial support offered under the scheme matches the AICTE GATE stipend scholarship which provides approximately ₹12,400 monthly to eligible postgraduate students.

The university has around 1,100 postgraduate seats across its major campuses which include the College of Engineering Guindy (CEG), Madras Institute of Technology (MIT), Alagappa College of Technology (AC Tech) and the School of Architecture and Planning (SAP).
However, some of these seats have remained unfilled in recent years. The university established this scholarship programme to attract outstanding students from all over India who would otherwise select national institutes such as the National Institutes of Technology (NITs) as their preferred choice of study.
The new scholarship program at Anna University will create a new research funding system which provides research scholars with ₹40000 monthly fellowships.
Authorities believe that such initiatives will enhance academic quality, encourage innovation, and support the university’s long-term goal of becoming a leading centre for technical education and research in India.
