IBPS PO & SO Recruitment 2026 Registration Starts Today

Synopsis: IBPS begins online applications for Probationary Officer and Specialist Officer Recruitment under the 2027–28 cycles. Candidates can apply from July 1 to July 21 through the official portal.
The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has started the online application part for hiring Probationary Officers (PO), Management Trainees (MT), and Specialist Officers (SO) in the Common Recruitment Process (CRP) for the 2027–28 recruitment cycle. For those who match the eligibility, you can actually drop in your application on the official IBPS portal from July 1, till July 21 2026.
The recruitment drive is carried out to fill the available posts in the participating public sector banks all across India. As per the notification it says that IBPS has announced something like 6,715 openings for the Probationary Officer and Management Trainee roles, but also 745 vacancies have been notified for Specialist Officer Positions across different disciplines. These kinds of openings really become a pathway for graduates and working professionals, who are looking for a career in the banking space and want to move ahead in the sector.
The Specialist Officer recruitment covers multiple streams like Information Technology Officer, Agricultural Field Officer, Law Officer, HR/Personnel Officer, Rajbhasha Adhikari and Marketing Officer, in a sort of combined flow. Eligibility criteria also is not the same for each post, because candidates are expected to have the right educational qualifications along with the age limits that are prescribed. For PO as well as Management Trainee positions, the applicants need to hold a bachelor s degree from a recognised university.

The selection process for PO and Management Trainee roles has a Preliminary Examination, a Main Examination, a Personality Test, and then an Interview. For Specialist Officer Recruitment, candidates will be asked to clear the Preliminary plus the Main examinations first, followed by an Interview. IBPS has now brought in a Personality Test for PO recruitment, to make the assessment more robust, and to judge candidates beyond just academic performance or purely syllabus based marks.
The preliminary exams for both the PO and SO recruitments are, scheduled for August 29, 2026, while the Main tests will be conducted on November 1, 2026. Candidates should complete the online registration, upload the required documents and pay the application fee within the time limit that is given.
