SSC JE Notification 2026 Released for 1,748 Engineering Posts

SSC has opened applications for 1,748 Junior Engineer posts under the 2026 recruitment drive. Applications are open until September 22, while Paper-I is tentatively scheduled for October/November and Paper-II for December 2026.

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the notification for the Junior Engineer (JE) Examination 2026, opening recruitment for 1,748 posts across government departments and organisations. The online application process began on September 2, with eligible candidates able to apply through the official SSC website.

The recruitment drive covers Junior Engineer positions across engineering disciplines, with the examination providing opportunities for candidates seeking technical roles in the Central Government. The SSC JE examination is conducted for recruitment to various government offices, while the 2026 process also includes recruitment for Scientific Assistant positions in the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

According to the announced schedule, the last date to submit applications is September 22, 2026, up to 11 pm. Candidates can pay the applicable examination fee until September 23, also up to 11 pm. The application correction window will remain open from September 28 to September 30, allowing applicants to make permitted changes to their submitted forms.

Paper-I of the SSC JE 2026 examination is tentatively scheduled to be conducted in October or November, while Paper-II is scheduled for December 2026. Both papers will be conducted in computer-based examination (CBE) mode. Candidates are advised to check the detailed notification for the prescribed educational qualifications, age requirements, examination pattern and syllabus before applying.

The application fee has been set at ₹100 for male candidates belonging to the unreserved category. Women candidates and candidates belonging to categories such as SC,ST and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) are exempt from payment of the fee.

The SSC JE recruitment provides engineering candidates with an opportunity to enter technical positions within the Central Government. The 1,748 vacancies span multiple government departments and engineering functions, making the examination a significant recruitment avenue for candidates with qualifications in relevant engineering streams.
