Microsoft Research Intern Jobs Offer Up to ₹13.86 Lakh Monthly

Microsoft Research invites doctoral researchers to apply for 12-week internships in machine learning, generative AI and scientific research. Monthly pay reaches ₹13.86 lakh for eligible roles in select US locations.

Microsoft Research invites applications for multiple research internship positions through its Machine Learning (ML) and Statistics group at Microsoft Research New England. The 12-week opportunities allow doctoral researchers to work alongside research scientists, applied scientists and engineers on advanced machine learning projects.

The internships cover theoretical and applied research, with projects spanning generative artificial intelligence (AI), large language models (LLMs), reinforcement learning and other emerging technology areas. Selected candidates work with mentors, collaborate with research teams, present their findings and contribute to ongoing research initiatives.

The internship programme covers a broad range of research areas, including generative models, transfer learning, domain adaptation, stochastic control, meta-learning and statistical inference. Other focus areas include weather and climate forecasting, chemistry and materials science, causal inference, machine learning for healthcare, adversarial machine learning and AI-driven scientific research.

Participants may also explore deep learning, supervised and unsupervised learning, optimal transport, Monte Carlo methods and methods for improving AI systems' reasoning and performance.

The programme provides doctoral researchers with opportunities to investigate complex scientific and technical challenges while gaining experience in collaborative research environments.

Applicants must be currently enrolled in a doctoral degree programme in computer science or a related science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) discipline.

Candidates must also be available to work physically at their assigned Microsoft worksite throughout the internship. The role follows a hybrid arrangement, requiring interns to work from the office three days a week, with travel expected to account for less than 25% of the position.

Applicants must submit a cover letter, at least two reference letters and relevant work or research samples. Microsoft may contact the referees listed in the application to request recommendations after submission. Candidates are advised to inform their referees in advance.

The company prefers applicants who can develop original research agendas, collaborate effectively with researchers and product development teams, and communicate across different professional and cultural backgrounds.
