Tata Steel Opens Engineer Trainee Recruitment for 2026

Tata Steel Limited has officially opened the registration process for its Engineer Trainee positions under the Aspiring Engineer Programme (AEP) 2026, inviting eligible engineering graduates and final-year students to apply online before the deadline. The recruitment drive began in mid-February and will remain active until March 9, 2026, after which no further entries will be accepted.
This programme is designed to bring fresh engineering talent into Tata Steel’s technical, operations, and project functions, offering participants a structured pathway from trainee to professional roles within one of India’s biggest steel producers. Candidates interested in core engineering careers across disciplines such as Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Mining, Metallurgy, Chemical, Ceramic, and Instrumentation can access the official application link through Tata Steel’s careers portal.
To be eligible, applicants must hold or be in the final year of a full-time B.E. / B.Tech / B.Sc (Engineering) degree from a recognized institution. Students who entered engineering via lateral entry after completing a three-year diploma are also eligible. Academic criteria include a minimum of 65 % marks or 6.5 CGPA for general category candidates, and 60 % or 6.0 CGPA for SC, ST, PwD, and transgender candidates as per company guidelines. Age must not exceed 30 years for general candidates and 32 years for reserved categories as of January 1, 2026.

Once selected, candidates will first undergo an online functional domain test and behavioral assessment followed by interviews, either virtually or in person. Successful trainees will join Tata Steel as Engineer Trainees, receiving a monthly stipend of ₹30,000 during the one-year training period. Upon successful completion and evaluation, trainees may be offered full-time positions as Assistant Managers (IL-6) with an approximate CTC of ₹7.4 lakh per annum along with additional benefits.
