Patna Law College Launches First 5-Year Integrated BBA LLB Program

  • Bar Council of India approves five-year BBA LLB programme.
  • College allowed 180 student intake across three sections from 2025-26.
  • Proposal of ₹90 crore submitted for infrastructure development.

Patna Law College, a historic legal institution in India, plans to introduce its first integrated BBA LLB programme in the 2025-26 academic year, following approval from the Bar Council of India (BCI).

This signifies a significant achievement for the 116-year-old institution, which has generated numerous distinguished, renowned judges, lawyers, and legal scholars since its establishment.

A communication from the BCI sent to the college indicated that the standing committee, during its latest meeting, reviewed the report from an inspection team that evaluated the institution’s physical and academic aspects and granted approval to initiate the course, stated college spokesperson Birendra Paswan.

As per the BCI's communication, the college is permitted to commence the five-year integrated program with an enrollment of 60 students in each of the three sections (totalling 180 in a single batch) during the 2025-26 academic year, provided that the Rules of Legal Education, 2008, are followed.

The BCI, however, turned down the college's request to open two additional sections due to insufficient faculty and infrastructure.

Principal Yogendra Kumar Verma expressed his satisfaction with the BCI's approval of the five-year law program for the first time in the 116-year history of the college (the fifth oldest law school in the nation) and noted that necessary actions would now be taken to address the deficiencies and pursue approval for the other two sections.

He mentioned that the college has submitted a proposal to the state government for infrastructure development, estimating the cost at Rs 90 crore.
