The Government of India has invited applications for the latest phase of the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS), offering around 21,000 internship opportunities to young candidates across the country.

The program provides students and recent graduates with actual industry experience through their placements in top companies that operate in different industries.

The program serves as a major skills development initiative that helps participants acquire job-ready skills through its educational content and practical work experiences.

The current phase of the project presents its primary achievement through the implementation of updated financial assistance which will provide selected interns with a monthly payment of ₹9,000.

The program has introduced this increase from its previous amount of ₹5,000 to make the program more appealing which will help decrease the dropout rates that occurred in previous program phases.

The program offers practical training and mentor guidance and access to business workspaces, although different organizations and positions will have their own internship requirements and schedule arrangements.

The scheme needs multiple reforms which will increase public participation in its activities. The eligibility criteria now permit a wider selection of candidates which includes both graduates and postgraduates.

The expansion will create multiple new opportunities for youth while establishing internship programs that match upcoming industry needs.
