GIFT Finance Olympiad 2026 Opens for PG Students Across India

GIFT City and IIM Bangalore launch the Finance Olympiad 2026 for postgraduate students. Teams of four can submit financial-market and governance case solutions by October 31.
GIFT City and the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM Bangalore) have launched the GIFT Finance Olympiad – National Student Case Challenge 2026 to encourage postgraduate students to develop evidence-based solutions to real-world financial-sector challenges. The competition is being organised with IIM Bangalore’s Centre for Capital Markets and Risk Management (CCMRM) ahead of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2027.
The challenge is open to postgraduate students enrolled in recognised colleges, universities and business schools across India, irrespective of their academic discipline. Participants must form teams of four, with interdisciplinary teams encouraged to bring different perspectives to financial-market and business problems. The deadline for submitting entries for the first stage is October 31, 2026.

The competition features two analytical tracks. The Markets and Product Design track examines the proposed introduction of single-stock futures linked to major Indian companies for global investors through GIFT IFSC. Participants will explore product development, market opportunities and the practical considerations involved in making financial instruments accessible to international investors.
The Institutional Strategy and Governance track focuses on partnerships between exchanges, clearing corporations and other market infrastructure institutions. Participants will assess how organisations operating in GIFT IFSC can evaluate partnerships with global exchanges, custodians and related institutions while considering strategic priorities and governance requirements.
Both tracks aim to help students understand the commercial, regulatory and operational factors that influence the development of international financial markets.
The Olympiad follows a three-stage format, beginning with a national online case challenge. Shortlisted teams will advance to regional finals in Delhi on November 21, Bengaluru on November 28, Kolkata on November 30 and Mumbai on December 5, 2026. The competition will conclude with a Grand Finale, where finalist teams will work on an extended case and present their recommendations.

Entries will be assessed on analytical quality, strategic depth, feasibility, understanding of market trade-offs and presentation skills. Participants may use artificial intelligence tools for research and drafting, provided they disclose their use. Evaluation will prioritise original analysis, practical recommendations and a clear understanding of risks.
The GIFT Finance Olympiad offers students an opportunity to engage with challenges facing an international financial services centre and present their ideas to experts. Through the initiative, GIFT City and IIM Bangalore aim to encourage financial innovation, strengthen analytical capabilities and generate practical recommendations that could contribute to the development of GIFT IFSC as a global financial hub.
