ICAI Postpones CA Inter Auditing Exam for January 2026

• Only CA Intermediate Paper-5 (Auditing and Ethics) scheduled January 19, 2026 is postponed.
• New exam date will be announced soon on ICAI’s official website; admit cards remain valid.
• All other CA Intermediate and Foundation exams will continue as originally scheduled.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has postponed the CA Intermediate Group II Paper-5 exam – Auditing and Ethics, which was originally scheduled for January 19, 2026. This decision comes just days before the planned date and affects candidates both within India and abroad. The institute cited unavoidable administrative circumstances for the deferment and has not yet announced a new exam date.

In an official notification, ICAI clarified that this postponement applies only to the Auditing and Ethics paper (Paper-5) of the CA Intermediate January 2026 examination. All other papers under the CA Intermediate (both Group I and the remaining Group II papers) and Foundation examinations will continue as per the originally published timetable. This means that exams scheduled before and after the postponed paper are unaffected and will proceed as planned.

The institute has reassured students that existing admit cards will remain valid for the rescheduled Auditing and Ethics paper. Candidates are advised to retain their current hall tickets securely and present them at the examination centre on the new date once it is announced. The venues for the exam will not change, and students should report to the same centres as earlier scheduled.

ICAI has urged students to avoid unofficial or unverified sources of information and to rely solely on official updates published on its website (icai.org) for notifications regarding the new date and any further instructions. Regular monitoring of the ICAI site is recommended to stay updated on the revised timetable.

The postponement marks a second rescheduling for this paper in the January 2026 session. Initially, the Auditing and Ethics exam was moved from January 15 to January 19 before being postponed again. While the repeated changes may cause uncertainty among candidates, ICAI’s assurance on the validity of admit cards and status of other exams may offer some relief.
