IIT Madras Opens Admissions For MTech, MSc, MA Programs

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras has officially started the application process for its postgraduate programmes, which include M.Tech and M.Sc and M.A courses, for the 2026 academic session.

The online application portal opened on March 28, 2026, and interested candidates can apply through the institute’s official admission website. The last date to submit applications is expected to be April 27, 2026, giving students a limited window to complete the process.

Admission to the M.Tech programmes will primarily be based on valid GATE scores from 2024, 2025, or 2026, while IIT graduates with a strong academic record may also be eligible for direct consideration.

To apply for M.A. programs candidates must pass the specific GATE paper which relates to their chosen field of study.

The institute offers multiple specializations through various departments which include new courses that match current industry needs in robotics and semiconductor technology and computational engineering.

The application process requires candidates to complete their online application by registering for the application which includes entering their personal information and academic records and submitting required documents and paying the application fee.

The submission process will lead to candidate selection through eligibility criteria and entrance exam results. The Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) registration is a requirement for applicants who want to obtain their M.Tech seat allocation.
