Maharashtra, Australia Launch Skills Hub for Edu-Industry Ties

Recently, Maharashtra's Minister for Higher and Technical Education, Chandrakant Patil, announced that the state government will establish the Maharashtra-Australia Innovation and Skills Hub (MAISH) to facilitate better linkages in industry and education with Australian expertise.
The Minister explained that MAISH will serve as a collaborative platform that will facilitate research, innovation, and advanced skills development in key sectors including energy, the environment, and health.
Patil stated that MAISH is much more than simply an academic initiative, and said that it was a critical step towards mobilising the resources to grow Maharashtra into a sustainable knowledge-based economy. The proposal was discussed at a high-level meeting in Mantralaya with senior officials, academicians, and directors from higher and technical departments.
The hub will be established through the Australia-India Centre of Excellence; it is a key fulfillment of the vision between Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Australian Education Minister Jason Clare. It indicates a vision for youth empowerment, global partnerships, and strengthened bilateral cooperation.

Patil emphasized that though Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur have each been academic and industry centers for a long time, and key solutions for global issues related to climate change, growing energy demands, and sustainable development relate to applied research and commercialization of research.
The initiative will involve major institutions from both India and Australia. The Indian partners are IIT Bombay, University of Mumbai, Savitribai Phule Pune University, and DY Patil University while the Australian partners are Newcastle University, Monash University, RMIT University, and Sydney University.
MAISH will provide students with internationally recognized courses, specialized training, and exposure to international experiences - support undergraduates, postgraduates, and PhD researchers - patentable innovation and scientific exchange as a new chapter of India - Australia engagement.
